With a house overflowing with guests, Ibiza's Galeria Elefante owner wears floaty velvet and Isabel Marant to cook a festive feast for Ibicenco neighbours, family and friends.

'We&rsquo;ve been in our finca since 1997. It&rsquo;s in the hills between Santa In&eacute;s and San Mateo and it's very old and layered and cozy. We have a big open fireplace and a big, glass wood burning stove: when they're both roaring, it's super snug. I used to decorate my palm tree, but it died of a bug, so now we do a little pine tree. And I fill the house with pinecones, lots and lots of pinecones. I decorate the table and the coffee table with pinecones and lots of candles, so in the run up to Christmas, whenever I see pinecones, I stuff them in my pockets! We sell beautiful little baskets at <a href="https://lagaleriaelefante.com" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Galeria Elefante</a> and I fill them with mandarines and chocolates. And I collect heather and rosemary which I decorate the house with and I also burn rosemary branches for the fabulous scent that they give to the whole house. Fragrance is very important to me at Christmas. I have a pot of spiced tea that I keep brewing on the stove that I make with star anis and cloves and cinnamon sticks. It&rsquo;s rather like a mulled wine with bits of orange it, and if friends come over, they can add a little glug of this or that. Some rum and honey perhaps.

Our son [the photographer <a href="https://www.instagram.com/emiledurrergasse/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Emile Durrer Gasse</a>] arrives on the 19th and we have dinners each night from the 19th until the 22nd. We might pop down to the bar in San Mateo &ndash; <a href="https://www.instagram.com/sescasetessantmateu/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ses Casetes</a><a href="https://www.instagram.com/sescasetessantmateu/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener"> </a>&ndash; for a drink with local friends. I love it there. We celebrate Christmas Day on the 25th, although most of my Spanish friends do it on the 24th. I do a fabulous table and I always use a wonderful tablecloth that I bought in Vietnam in 1989. It&rsquo;s a vintage colonial piece from a French family. I found it in a random little guest house we were staying in, which had belonged to a French family. I don't think the hotel exists anymore. The tablecloth is quite marvellous and is hand embroidered with hundreds of tiny Christmas trees. And I have an old wreath that was my mother's that's made of dried flowers. It&rsquo;s falling to bits but I put that on the table along with bundles of little candles everywhere. There are ten or twelve of us this year, including some local Ibicenco neighbours in their eighties. Ibiza is rather an island of strays and there are always lots of people scooped and brough in to celebrate with us. I cook a very festive meal, usually a turkey with lots of roast vegetables. Emile is vegetarian so I&rsquo;ll do a lentil nut roast for him. Christmas pudding is not really a fort&eacute; but I&rsquo;ll buy good German stollen and decorate it with fruit and spices. I like to make crackers, which aren&rsquo;t the best but they&rsquo;re fun and one always has a crown made of Quality Street wrappers inside it so someone has to wear that. We&rsquo;re quite lazy, so after lunch we watch a lot of films. My favourite is James Stewart&rsquo;s It&rsquo;s a Wonderful Life. The others might all play charades while I potter around clearing up and making tea.&nbsp;

I absolute love the week between Christmas and New Year. A group of friends arrive on Boxing Day and we will clear out the fridge and head off on a hike and a picnic. We take baskets of food and blankets and head somewhere magical. One hike that I particularly love is to a place that we all know as Narnia. There&rsquo;s a long camino and a ruin and fabulous lookout over the sea. We spread all our blankets in the sun and lie there and chat for hours. I grew up in West Sussex in the UK and we always had lots of dogs, so dogs and hikes are very much part of family life for me. On New Year&rsquo;s Eve we&rsquo;ll go to a party at a friend&rsquo;s house. My husband and his mother went to the local church in&nbsp; once. She&rsquo;s quite a devout Roman Catholic, but the service was all in an archaic language with lots of tongue clicking and they couldn&rsquo;t understand a thing. They didn&rsquo;t get home until around one in the morning!&nbsp; It was quite remarkable really. New Year&rsquo;s Day is very celebratory, with lots of drinks and good cheer.
