Will 2024 be better than 2023?
That's what everyone is wondering as we enter the new calendar year.

At the beginning of any year we are filled with optimism and hope for what lies ahead. But will the planets and comos play nice this year? Let&rsquo;s see!
Here is a run down of the big astrological moves over the next 12 months and what they mean.
Mercury Retrogrades in 2024
December 13 2023 - 1 Jan 2024 (Capricorn and Sagittarius)
Mercury&rsquo;s quick 3 week spin backwards resumes normal service on the first day of the year.&nbsp;
<a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/take-a-pause-i-bet-you-don-t-know-this-about-mercury-retrograde" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercury Retrograde</a> has become the transit to blame when everything goes haywire. Mercury rules how we process and interpret information, communication (including tech and post), local travel and happenings, negotiating, listening and the lower mind. So all these areas are impacted during its retrograde cycle. Its purpose is to give us the opportunity to slow down and reconsider what's important instead of our usual Modus Operandi of racing ahead. Mercury Retrograde can make important decisions harder to come by as we are inclined to revisit and rethink events of the previous 3 months. While it&rsquo;s not advisable to stop living during these grace periods, it is prudent to double check all plans, negotiations and big decision making.
Other Mercury Retrograde periods in 2024
April 1-25 (in Aries)
August 5-28 (in Virgo and Leo)
November 25-15 December (in Sagittarius)
Uranus Direct and APDM (All Planets Direct Motion)
Revolutionary planet of shock and surprise, Uranus is the last of the generational planets (Saturn, Neptune, Pluto) to station direct.&nbsp;
Currently transiting Taurus until 2026, Uranus is shaking up and bringing innovation to the areas Taurus governs; money, possessions, agriculture, self image, and our attitudes to sensuality. It will begin another retrograde cycle on 1 September.
With Uranus joining all the other planets in forward motion (no retrogrades!) it means happenings are likely to speed up (maybe too quickly for some!) until 1 April with Mercury&rsquo;s first full retrograde cycle of 2024. Get ready for the pace to quicken now so that you can make the most of it.
Pluto Ingress Aquarius 20 Jan and 19 November
Small and mighty planet of transformation and power, Pluto is slowly inching its way into Aquarius following two decades in Capricorn. When Pluto finally enters Aquarius on 19 November it will leave Capricorn for good (well&hellip; for 200 years, at least) and welcome a big new era. Since Pluto&rsquo;s transit in boss archetype Capricorn, top-down, hierarchical structures have become the norm. Society has got a little too comfy outsourcing decisions to so-called superiors before trusting our own inner power. That's all going to change over the next 20 years. Pluto in Aquarius is much more about power to the people and self leadership.
North Node in Aries &amp; Eclipse Seasons 2024
Each year we have <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/soul-spirituality/how-to-navigate-the-end-of-the-eclipse-corridor-in-ibiza" target="_blank" rel="noopener">four eclipses</a> that happen in pairs two weeks apart. This is known as Eclipse Season.
Eclipses are Full or New Moons with x 100 the power. The continual energy exchange between the Sun, Moon and Earth is disrupted bringing in life altering happenings so that life is never the same.
The Nodal Axis determines the eclipse points. In 2024 this transit continues in Aries (North Node; representing our destiny) and Libra (South Node; representing our past). This is helping us all nurture better, <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/soul-spirituality/nurturing-emotional-awareness-a-crucial-life-skill" target="_blank" rel="noopener">healthier relationships</a>, and the eclipses give that journey a big (sometimes unwelcome) boost.
Eclipses usually mark our major life pivots, where fundamental changes occur or begin that move us into a new direction more aligned with our soul growth.
Births, deaths, marriages, divorces, careers, relocations - they occur around eclipses. Or an initial seed is planted for something to take shape over the proceeding eclipses. By tracking them against our own <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/soul-spirituality/what-are-the-differences-between-sun-moon-and-rising-signs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">astrology</a> we can easily identify how we are being impacted personally.
Big change isn&rsquo;t always easy or welcome so Eclipse Season can be stressful. They remove things that hold us back, usually for good. By learning how to use this energy it can be game-of-life changing (in the best of ways).
Lunar Eclipse 25 March (Libra)
Solar Eclipse 8 April (Aries)
Lunar Eclipse 17 September (Pisces)
Solar Eclipse 2 October (Libra)
Jupiter Ingress Gemini 25 May
Planet of good fortune glides from Taurus into Gemini for the remainder of the year where it will rain luck and abundance for this sign, and the life zone where Gemini is found in our personal astrology. Communication of all kinds, negotiations and local happenings will be hit with the lucky stick for a whole year. Expand on curiosity, connecting and developing written or spoken communication to make the most of this transit. The downsides of this energy are being too flighty, not following through and indecision.
Mars Retrograde 6 December - 23 Feb 2025 (Leo and Cancer)
Planet of action, initiation, desire and aggression stations retrograde every two years or so. This is a review period of how we go about making decisions, our passions, what we want and getting it. As with all retrograde cycles the energy is internalised. When it&rsquo;s Mars we find our instincts are not as sharp and we are more hesitant about taking action. We may be less direct in how we approach situations and confrontation. While this is not a time for making concrete decisions, the energy is more aligned with seeing how things unfold until the retrograde cycle&nbsp; completes as we review and revisit our actions from the previous two years.
Outer Planet Retrogrades in 2024
All of the outer planets retrograde for 4-6 months each year, usually during the Summer months. Their orbit is slower and affects the collective mood overall creating powerful generational changes in our behaviour and consciousness. While each planet's retrograde cycle is nothing to worry about - they happen every year - around the dates that they station retrograde or direct are worth noting because as the energy shifts, it influences our decisions and actions.
Pluto Retrograde: 2 May - 1 October (in Aquarius and Capricorn)
Saturn Retrograde:&nbsp; 29 June - 15 November (in Pisces)
Neptune Retrograde:&nbsp; 2 July - 7 December (in Neptune)
Jupiter Retrograde:&nbsp; 9 October - 4 Feb 2025 (in Gemini)
A lucky year for some?
The energy of 2024 feels more optimistic than 2023 as there are less disruptive planetary changes so we can all breath a sign of gratitude for that.
The signs that will benefit most in 2024 from these transits are Aries, Taurus and Gemini where progress will be made in confidence and fortunate opportunities present themselves.
Sorry, Pisces, Aquarius and Libra placements&nbsp; - you may experience more challenges and soul searching moments this year with the rewards of effort being realised over a longer time frame.
