From fishing gear to country walk essentials, Kim Jones builds an unexpected bridge between Monsieur Dior, artist Dunca Grant and menswear.

With a staged garden , Kim Jones takes her guests on a surreal experience . As if it were romantically the top of a mountain against the blue of an infinite sea in the background, a pink house with a blue roof with red details &mdash;like a doll's&mdash; hides everything that the creative director has designed for spring / summer 2023 as a continuation of &laquo; La Conversation &raquo; , which began for its winter collection as a tribute to Monsieur Dior and his legacy to celebrate the 75th anniversary of the house.
To the rhythm of the soft notes of a piano, the models exit through the main door into a large garden , whose vibrant green is invaded by a palette of light tones such as Dior greys , pinks and pastels , harmonizing with the colors of the flowers. Turning an everyday landscape into a catwalk, the show becomes a veritable ode to the outdoors , with models dressed for it in trench coats, landscape gloves and fishing hats.

For Jones, this is where everything happens, not only in the present, but in the past. Between Paris and the countryside, the birthplace of Christian Dior ( Normandy ) and the home of his legendary garden ( Granville ); Sussex and Charleston ( Duncan Grant 's country residence), as a bridge between the designer and the artist who is a member of the Bloomsbury group , the garden is not only charm and nature , it also symbolizes the idea of time : the change of climate , light and of the seasons ; the continuity .
While presenting a contemporary and masculine reinterpretation of The New Look from a perspective reminiscent of the Maison 's founder, a link between the infinitely influential and the deeply personal is exposed . This is how in a space surrounded by flowers, the iconic Dior can establish an evocative dialogue with the post-impressionist grammar of Duncan Grant in a poetic context of landscaping where the essentials of gardening appear as never seen before.

Asymmetry and deconstruction are part of a collection whose classic pieces are nonchalantly reinterpreted as a jacket with 4 sleeves (two hanging down the middle). Quirky and practical at the same time , tailoring meets utilitarianism in the outdoor must-haves, blurring the lines that separate formal from casual and preset as a long jacket reveals internals with collar and lapels unfolded Prints with post-impressionist paintings and nuances that give a theatrical character , sophisticated reinterpretations of an apron to do housework , or a fabric that follows the shape of a silhouette gardening. Alongside textures of cashmere and silk organza or checkered fabrics, the composition of &quot; Lily Pond &quot; (1913) and Grant&#39;s hand sketches translate into the complexity of different stitches .

With a focus on practical , comfortable , rain and wind - resistant outerwear , Kim Jones predicts an endless summer of outdoor activities where modular ensembles are a must . From a fully transparent sleeveless shirt, a coat with quilted cannage or a trench coat that hangs over a reflective vest; the layering game reigns in a wardrobe where the possibilities of dynamism and comfort of the sports world are also included with lycra shorts and a waterproof layer or fleece jackets: the basics in hiking.
Of course, the accessories only sharpen the intentions of the outfit with hiking backpacks , walking shoes , fanny packs, sporty sunglasses and a mini saddle bag all echoing the show's light-hearted and somewhat playful personality .
