She further explains: "When we don't meet our expectations and beliefs about what to do when it's sunny, we feel like we're doing something wrong, and we may even feel disappointed, embarrassed and worried." Dr. Sophie Mort concludes, Sunshine Guilt is essentially a form of FOMO - worry that you may be missing out on positive experiences and opportunities. "Just as FOMO centers around events or social experiences, Sunshine Guilt focuses on missing out on outdoor <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/important-astrology-dates-in-may-2024-alicia-orre" target="_blank" rel="noopener">activities</a> and the fun associated with them," she explains.
However, Dr. Mort emphasizes that, unlike Seasonal Affective Disorder - a depressive condition that often occurs during the dark winter months, Sunshine Guilt feels completely under control. This is a common psychological phenomenon, reflecting people's attachment to social norms.

Discussing solutions, Dr. Mort noted that it is completely normal to have different interests and priorities. Self-care can sometimes be tied to indoor activities, even on sunny days. She advises us to practice mindfulness, focus on the present, and appreciate household activities without feeling guilty. More importantly, the Doctor emphasized the need to set realistic expectations, and understand that it is impossible to make the most of every opportunity. This will help reduce psychological pressure and provide a more comprehensive view of how you spend your time. This way, we can fully enjoy sunny days without the emotional burden.

Furthermore, experiencing a little feeling of FOMO (Fear of Missing Out - fear of missing out) is not necessarily a bad thing. In fact, sometimes it can become a motivator to help you make the most of your day.
Specifically, Dr. Mort shares: "I value Sunshine Guilt , but not to the extent that I feel extremely embarrassed. Instead, I find that it is often the factor that motivates me to get out of bed when I feel tired. However, an activity actually worked better to lift my mood and energy."
This perspective shows that the feeling of "fear of missing out" can become a positive motivation, motivating us to make more effective use of our time, instead of just sitting still and blaming ourselves.
