L&#39;OFFICIEL met Mary Leest at the Viktor &amp; Rolf fashion show to talk fashion, Haute Couture and good Parisian addresses.

L&rsquo;OFFICIEL: Can you describe your Viktor &amp; Rolf outfit? Mary Leest : I wanted something casual, but with a touch of edginess. <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/viktor-rolf-24-variations-couture-of-a-silhouette-in-metamorphoses" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Viktor &amp; Rolf</a> is all about pushing the boundaries, and I love that. I wore a structured cream suit with exaggerated lapels that was both architectural and classic, and paired it with oversized sunglasses to elevate the look.

 LO: What do you like most about the brand? &nbsp; ML: I love the sarcasm that comes out of every collection. Viktor &amp; Rolf always manages to surprise. They play with volumes, proportions and silhouettes in a way that seems surreal. This collection has once again expanded the horizon of what is possible in fashion &mdash; taking the basic element of every wardrobe, the trench coat, and reinterpreting it in many different ways. You have to see it with your own eyes! &nbsp;

 LO: What is the most exciting thing about attending <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/most-beautiful-wedding-dresses-spring-summer-2025-haute-couture-fashion-shows-trend" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Haute Couture</a> shows? ML: It&rsquo;s not just fashion, it&rsquo;s a real work of art. Some shows have an almost theatrical aspect and are much more intimate. Couture takes us back to the roots of fashion, to the time when clothes were not mass-produced, but custom-made for each client, which gives fashion a completely different value.

 LO: Which shows did you attend this season, and which ones left a lasting impression on us? ML: This week I attended several incredible shows, my favorites being Viktor &amp; Rolf of course, Armani Priv&eacute; , Gaurav Gupta and St&eacute;phane Rolland. I also attended the Schiaparelli re-see. Daniel Roseberry is a true genius of our time. Attending one of his shows is a dream I have had for so long!

LO: What do you like most about Paris? &nbsp; ML: Fashion, museums and people-watching in cafes. &nbsp; LO: Why do you think it is the fashion capital? &nbsp; ML: It’s a question of history. Paris has long been the epicenter of haute couture, known for its exceptional craftsmanship and deep-rooted heritage in fashion. Its influence dates back to the 17th century, when Louis XIV encouraged luxury textiles and set high standards for style. In the 19th century, Paris became the birthplace of haute couture thanks to designers like Charles Frederick Worth. LO: What are your best addresses in Paris? ML: The Costes Hotel, where every evening turns into unforgettable stories. One moment you hear whispers about the next creative director of Chanel; the next moment you see Kim Kardashian in a tracksuit and diamond necklace chatting with Delphine Arnault; across the room, Naomi is smoking cigarettes in her Haute Couture outfit… It only happens in Paris!
