The founder of Boredom Ravers talks about her vision, her badges and her latest collection &quot;Love yourself all&quot;.

&laquo;Making choices that help move fashion towards conscious horizons&raquo; is the mantra of <a href="https://boredomravers.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Boredom Ravers</a> , an Italian brand founded in 2021 by <a href="https://www.instagram.com/cecisonfire_/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Cecilia Bortolazzi</a> based in Verona. Its collections are structured with unique pieces in a genderless, circular and sustainable key with all fabrics, they come from all over and from dead stock of Italian companies. When you talk to the founder and creative director Cecilia, you immediately perceive her sided personality. To support the creative ardor there are her arguments, never trivial, but direct that push her to give her best with the hope of agitating and moving the masses. Because as the founder says: &laquo;Clothes can challenge conceptions and stereotypes of culture&raquo;. 
When did you realize you had attention for the fashion system? I think I owe a lot to my maternal grandmother, she was an amazing seamstress. I grew up with her, in a house full of friends, clients, sewing machines and clothes to fix. When I was almost three, she made me close my eyes and handed me fabrics whose texture I had to recognize. She educated me, unaware of fashion and its system. She knew how to read my unstable aptitude for protest, liberation and law. I can say that I learned, through her sensitivity, to feed mine and to understand that fashion and clothes could be my channel for spreading social and free messages: designing clothes is wonderful because it coincides with the action.

Why is your brand called Boredom Ravers? It was born during a trip to Sardinia just over a year ago, I wanted to give a name and a shape to an intention. And there I found it, an antinomy: Boredom vs. Ravers. I am attracted to and passionate about subcultures and I believe that rave culture has radically contaminated and bestowed messages of liberation and <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/adaptive-fashion-brands-accessibility-ability-inclusive" target="_blank" rel="noopener">inclusiveness</a> on the social fabric. And that's exactly what I want to do through clothes: divulge ethical and urgent messages. Following and respecting the shadows of those who, before us, brought us here by making fashion.
What is your positioning? What's cooler than being able to dress everyone up? What message would you like to say or suggest to yourself or to others? I have always believed that there isn't a more effective channel of manifestation and communication vehicle than fashion and design for conveying an active and influential message. Fashion is really one of the few things, together with food, that whether we like it or not, we use every day.
Who are your masters or your reference brands? I'm full of Jewish spirits. There is a concept, which I repeat to myself every day as if it were a prayer, is by Rei Kawakubo : &laquo; In the more than forty years I've been making clothes I have never thought about fashion&raquo;.

Where do your inspirations come from? I have a fetish for collages, image research and Italian idioms. My inspirations are tangible, in a constant process and I always make it a rule not to leave what inspires me understood. What I have always liked to juxtapose in moodboards has become my channel for composing textile prints. I don't keep anything to myself, what I see, everyone must see. What are the hallmarks of your creative practice? When I work for myself or for others, I don't think so much about the body, or the construction of a dress on it, as about the construction of meanings that can influence actions and conceptions and how these can delicately challenge cultural stereotypes. Making fashion does not mean doing open-heart surgery. Divulging ethical, inclusive and social messages means telling reality and having an independent and emerging brand gives the new generations the opportunity to dress awareness.
How does your modus operandi work? I was not born a designer. I've always liked talking through images, and I believe that fashion also has this task: to be a means of speaking to the world about its own problems. I try to do all this humbly through graphics, I try to clarify myself and my ideas about the present by juxtaposing contemporary instances with meanings, retro images and provocative sayings. I want to give the same attention to the research, consumption and choice of quality fabrics: they all come from stocks and inventories of Veneto or Lombard warehouses that are overflowing with abandoned rolls for "excessively reduced" sizes. Tell me about your latest collection "Amarsi Tuttə".. "Amarsi Tuttə" was born out of a present need. I think what is happening has brought everyone to think in terms of tolerance, fear and violence. I asked myself questions and I gave myself only one answer. I was looking for a single, decisive and peaceful message. The items in the collection are the reflection of all the phases of the metabolization process referring to the concept of fear. Loving yourself Tutt ə, in 2022, should be the only answer to every threat aimed at hatred, discrimination, exclusion and bullying. Fear, the first feeling that generates pain, can be defeated through an unifying and hopeful thought.

Have you ever thought about pairing your work with some other brand? Who would you like to collaborate with? The creative interweaving that can be kneaded between art and fashion are certainly dictating the present and the future and it is inevitable that a designer dreams or thinks about this: with Undercover and Marni an ironic, provocative and ethical discourse would be constructed, made up of images and collage. I'd like to give a performance with Paloma Wool.
How do you reconcile your brand with your agency? This is probably the most difficult and most beautiful piece to fit into the mosaic of life. Being a freelancer and a designer at the same time gives me the opportunity to look at creativity from different perspectives. I face these parallel paths with the same spirit: I fight for my ideas and I communicate creatively for Culture. What are the improvement thresholds and difficulties for a green brand? It would take an encyclopedia of preparation. The luck is that I feel like a virgin. It is easier to conceive a brand and its production process in terms of sustainability when one does not come from habits that are contrary and diametrically opposed to it. It takes care, attention, determination and above all the support of activities to keep production processes circular and reduce the environmental impact is possible, and will always be more so. The difficulty, for emerging brands such as Boredom Ravers, lies in supporting the costs that circular production entails.

What will your future goals be? Boredom Ravers was born just one year ago and now the goals we are setting ourselves every day are those of perpetuating the sharing and communication of living and active instances. For the coming seasons there is certainly the intention to open up the range of product types by paying particular attention to the search for quality leftover materials, making a social project a reality that we are working on. What is the greatest satisfaction of your job? From my point of view it lies in living this critical and tortuous time. I am convinced that what we are facing is a wonderful revolution. Knowing that with me there are many different people who in turn try to break down mechanisms and habits typical of the generation to which our parents belong is motivating. Making the world a better place is not an ideal, it&#39;s a right. To be able to do this, the idea must exist in us, in me, that everything we do must have a reason.
