With astonishing sea and sunset views over Cala Tarida, this sleek, Jaime Romano-designed home is a riot of colour and texture thanks to the multicultural heritage of its owner.&nbsp;

A member of the prominent Greek Thermiotis family, Countess Diana d'Hendecourt Thermiotis was raised in Venezuela, where her father held the Dior franchise. Diana remains deeply connected to her Greek heritage, particularly the island of Andros, but lives in Venezuela. Can Yucca, her Ibiza holiday home at <a href="https://www.sabinaibiza.com/">Sabina Ibiza</a>, was designed by the Ibiza-based architect Jaime Romano, with interiors by Lisa Bilton.

The whole house began with this painting. I have three boys &ndash; they are 26, 25, and 19. When the eldest turned 18, I threw a big party for him in Gstaad, where I like to spend a lot of time. Instead of gifts, I asked our friends to contribute to a work of art to commemorate his coming of age. Because it was Gstaad, he ended up with quite a lot of money! My son fell in love with this piece by the young Italian artist Tindar. It&rsquo;s called Aletheia, which is a Greek philosophical word meaning &lsquo;to reveal the truth&rsquo;. I&rsquo;m half Greek and the artwork is hand drawn in pencil on the pages of a book written in Greek. It has a beautiful meaning. When I bought this house, I realised it was the perfect place to hang it. I told my son - you're never getting it back!

I&rsquo;m Venezuelan and I love colour, texture and all things tribal and South American. When I was creating the interiors with my dear friend Lisa Bilton, she was very smart, because she said if you want to <a href="https://www.sabinaibiza.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">rent this house for the season</a>, it's got to have personality, but not too much. You don't want to live among somebody else&rsquo;s things! She was very good at keeping me restrained. Because of the architecture, this house is very linear and lateral, but it has these tropical, textural touches that remind me of my heritage.

I travel a lot and most of my decorative pieces were bought overseas, especially in Mexico, which is a country I love more than anywhere. We did a girls&rsquo; trip to a music festival in Mexico once and I bought the cow&rsquo;s skull from some very stoned hippies on the beach in Costa Careyes. The Mexican Tree of Life came from Oaxaca too &ndash; they&rsquo;re a common sight in Mexico but are usually very brightly coloured. This one is made from the local barro negro, a very typical smooth, black clay. It has a more minimal, sculptural vibe, which I like for Ibiza.

The little tree carving in my living room was a gift from a group of friends. It&rsquo;s from a fabulous organisation called <a href="https://treelove.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Tree Love</a> in Brazil - if you buy a sculpture from the website, 25 new trees are planted. It&rsquo;s extraordinary. The huge olive tree in the garden has become sort of emblem of this house, but it was a very funny story. Anton was very romantic about the garden design &ndash; as he is with all his undertakings, you know, very passionate. So, I was in Barcelona for a movie screening, and he said, you're in Barcelona, you should go and pick your trees. I said, oh wow, Anton, I didn't come here to pick trees! I couldn't care less! I'm not a big fanatic of gardens. I mean, plants look at me and they die! Anyhow, he convinced me and this long-haired gardener came to pick me up and drove me in his ancient car, all the way an hour outside Barcelona. And we arrived and I saw that tree. I climbed on it. I had a picture taken and I said, this is my tree. The garden designer said it was impossible, that it could never be craned over the wall into the garden. I said &ndash; in Switzerland, we use helicopters.

The architecture of the house is an interesting story. It has a real sense of fate. I was in Gstaad one winter and my neighbour called me up and he said Diana, I have a friend of mine with his daughter here. They're alone. They don't know what to do. Can you take care of them? I'm like, sure! So, I organized the ski teacher, I booked their tables for breakfast, lunch, dinner, you know, everything. And then when I bought the house, I said to Anton, I'd love to meet the architect, so Anton invited him for drinks.&nbsp; And in walked <a href="https://romano.archi/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Jaime Romano</a>, the guy from Gstaad!&nbsp; I couldn&rsquo;t believe it! I think it was meant to be.&nbsp;

The stone fountain in the courtyard is one of my favourite features of the house. It&rsquo;s got a very soothing effect and I feel immediately at home as soon as I hear the water flowing. Having spent so much time on islands, there is something about being close to water that makes me feel very calm.

I&rsquo;m not an art collector per se, but if I see something I like then I feel an immediate connection to it. Some of my favourite pieces are by an indigenous Yanomami artist called Sheroanawe Hakihiiwe. The Yanomami are from the border regions of Brazil and Venezuela. Hakihiiwe&rsquo;s work is a sort of archive of cultural tradition, translating the images and materials of his community and cultural values through drawings depicting Yanomami cosmology. He makes his own paper using sugarcane, cotton, mulberry, banana, and corn. There is something primitive yet extraordinarily contemporary about his work. My son has a series of Keith Haring skateboards in his room, so there&rsquo;s a quite a mix!
