Finishing touches dominated the morning before his arrival, as assistants scrambled to ensure everything would be perfect. Each of the looks told a story that speaks of the resilience of the Colombian singer's voice, his infectious charisma and his dynamism. That's why when <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/hommes/j-balvin-interview-sing-songs-reggaeton" target="_blank" rel="noopener">J Balvin</a> came on set, he put everyone at ease.
His voice &ndash; imperative yet melodic &ndash; floated through the room as he greeted everyone on set. Your reputation for being a calm and polite person is more than a narrative &ndash; it's true. Not just for the fans, but also for the team. The artist is approachable and is still very grateful for the opportunities that come his way, even after years of an established career.
His style, full of personality and eclectic, is strongly reflected in his sound. J Balvin grew up listening to different genres, including hip-hop and rock, but pushing the boundaries of music by incorporating influences from different genres is one of the great translations of his disruptive work.
His songs often feature infectious beats, catchy melodies, and lyrics that touch on a variety of topics, from love and relationships to social issues. This is perhaps due to his humble upbringing.
In addition to his solo work, J Balvin has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music. Can you talk a little about J Balvin&#39;s personality outside of music?

I&#39;m just José. I&#39;m passionate about art, fashion and culture and I believe in spreading positivity and love in everything I do. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. I love going to the cinema and watching horror films. I make an effort to make the most of each day.

How did you manage to create such an original sound while remaining true to your cultural roots?

Balance. I'm proud of my <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/culture/pablo-escobar-and-his-inheritance-to-government-of-colombia" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Colombian</a> heritage and I feel like everything I do has that deep-rooted DNA. At the same time, I find inspiration in various cultures and how sounds translate differently through <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/music/what-books-to-pack-music-fans-should-they-pack-on-holiday" target="_blank" rel="noopener">music</a>, experience, dance and emotion from different parts of the world. I try to create music that has my essence as its base, but that can take on new forms and sounds when mixed with what I'm vibrating at the moment. It's important to embrace your roots while evolving and exploring new horizons.

His success in the music industry has been sustained and global. What strategies have you employed to stay relevant and innovative?

It&#39;s all about being open to change. I&#39;ve always strived to experiment with different genres and sounds. Every opportunity I&#39;ve had to work with artists from around the world has been a learning experience. Coming into these moments with a student&#39;s mindset and a humble ear has allowed me to create music that I&#39;m very proud of and that fans who don&#39;t even speak Spanish can connect with.

His unique sense of style is widely recognised. Does this influence your musical creations and, if so, how?

<a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/hommes/don-t-sleep-on-taylor-zakhar-perez-s-style-moments" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Style</a> and music go hand in hand for me. Fashion is a form of self-expression and often inspires my music and vice versa. My style reflects my personality and I believe authenticity is key in everything you do. There are so many things I love and need to come out of my soul that sometimes music isn't enough.

Is there a philosophy or motto that you live by?

Be real and take care of yourself. The mental and physical aspect is essential in life because it helps you connect with other people and create meaningful art.

Are there any interesting projects or collaborations you are currently working on that you can share with us?

I have been focused and working on creating new music. My next album is ready and I can't wait to share it with my fans. We had so much fun recording it and the positive vibe is so contagious that I can't wait for the world to connect with it. My next single is called &ldquo;Triple S&rdquo; &ndash; stay tuned for my announcement in the coming weeks. I've also been working on a very special project with Ed Sheeran &ndash; more details to come in the new year!

I know you have a strong interest in &quot;sneaker culture&quot; and have had success with sneaker releases. What are your next steps in this industry?

I constantly push my limits, step out of my comfort zone, whether in music, fashion or other creative platforms. My fans have always been with me on this journey and I&#39;m thrilled to invite them into J Balvin&#39;s next exciting chapter.

In an industry full of imitations, how do you maintain authenticity and stay true to yourself?

Staying true to myself is non-negotiable. I like to think I&#39;m the same José who sang in high schools in Colombia a few years ago. I&#39;ve always marched to the beat of my own drum and I think that&#39;s what sets me apart. When everyone goes left, I naturally tend to go right - not intentionally, but that&#39;s how it goes.

I noticed that you lead a healthy lifestyle, both physically and mentally. Do you believe this has an impact on your artistic talent?

Absolutely &ndash; taking care of my physical and mental health is essential for everything in my life to function properly. I pride myself on my discipline &ndash; <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/soul-spirituality/well-being-specialist-with-tips-for-a-healthier-life" target="_blank" rel="noopener">healthy habits</a> like eating well, meditating, and exercising regularly allow me to stay focused, energized, and inspired. It's all connected &ndash; when I'm feeling well personally, my music radiates positivity.
