DUA LIPA X VERSACE: LA VACANZA 2023

Summer is just around the corner; it's time to think about a vacation, and who could have done better than Donatella Versace and Dua Lipa?
Last Tuesday, May 23rd, Versace's latest collection, "La Vacanza," was presented during the Cannes Film Festival in the splendid courtyard of a Villa in the city's heights. After shooting various campaigns and walking down the runway for the house, the pop singer has entered the design team and co-created a collection full of sparks and life. "Donatella and I bonded over our shared love of this time of year while making this collection," said Dua Lipa. Due to their shared love for this time of the year, the collection is an ode to Summer and the holidays.
The designers looked through Versace's archives and reinvented their signature pieces, such as the ladybug and butterfly prints shown for the first time back in their 1995 Spring-Summer show, as well as the metallic mini skirts and bikinis. Regarding the collection's colours, several pieces have a refreshing palette inspired by the pastel hues of the house's Fall-Winter 1992 show.

All in all, every piece that made Versace such an important fashion house was reenvisioned by the directive and creative eye of Dua Lipa, from the mesh outfits and embellishments inspired by the 1990s supermodels to the 1992 Fall Winter collection showcasing blazer dresses and men's gilet allusions.
Shortly after the show, during a press conference, the co-designer, Dua Lipa, talked about how mind-blowing this experience was and how emotional she was for participating in the procedure and entering the Versace atelier.
"Donatella has this very special quality that a lot of designers don't have, in that she really cares about how women feel in their clothes. She wants to make sure that you feel really strong and empowered – this is something that I really resonate with. I'm so lucky that we've had the opportunity to do this together. It's a dream come true, honestly."
On the other hand, Donatella spoke about how genuinely happy she was to have a different artistic vision come into the house. "It was really great to have another voice involved that is not usually a part of my team. I think that is really important."
La Vacanza is a new beginning for Versace as it is their first time collaborating in such a way and seeing its great success, we are hoping for more in the future. There is always an occasion to wear Versace, and this summer especially, everyone will want to spend days and nights in La Vacanza.
"Dua loves fashion, I love music — we are the perfect duo," Donatella said." We had such a good time designing this collection together. We felt like we were on vacation, and that is exactly the spirit we want people to feel when they wear our clothes."
