At the CNMI Sustainable Fashion Awards 2023, Donatella Versace was awarded the Equality and Inclusivity Award for her support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

This year, on the occasion of the CNMI <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/good-fiber" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Sustainable Fashion</a> Awards 2023, <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/portraits/donatella-versace-fall-winter-2023-los-angeles-show-celebrities" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Donatella Versace</a> stands out among the winners, awarded with the Equality and Inclusivity Award. The designer received the award for her support for the LGBTQIA+ community from the well-known singer Marco Mengoni. &laquo;Here in Italy, it has never been more important for us to support the voices of minorities. Our government is trying to take away people's rights to live as they wish, they are limiting our freedoms" , he declared on stage at the Teatro alla Scala in Milan.
During the magical evening, among the other winners: <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/valentino-chooses-kaia-gerber-to-star-in-its-autumn-winter-2023-campaign" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Valentino</a>'s Creative Director, Pierpaolo Piccioli ; Alfonso Dolce (Domenico's brother), who received the award for the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/dolce-gabbana-presents-the-new-advertising-campaign-in-puglia-at-monopoli-photo-where" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dolce &amp; Gabbana</a> Alta moda project and the Grand tour of Italy; Jean-Fran&ccedil;ois Palus , the new CEO of Gucci, awarded by a wonderful Julianne Moore for the circular economy and biodiversity project.

« Thank you so much Marco for your incredible words. Thank you, Alessandro Zan, for being here with me this evening. Your voice is critical in our world, and I&#39;m here to support everything you fight for. Thanks to the Camera della Moda for such an important award. It means a lot to me. Here in Italy, it has never been more important for us to support the voices of minorities. Our government is trying to take away people&#39;s rights to live as they wish, they are limiting our freedoms. The freedom to walk down the street with your head held high and without fear, regardless of identity. The freedom to build a family and live as you want. The freedom to love who you want. We must all fight for freedom. At a time when transgender people still suffer terrible violence, at a time when the children of same-sex couples are not considered their children, at a time when the voices of minorities are being attacked by new laws. At this time, we still have a lot to do. I was 11 years old when my brother Gianni told me he was gay. For me, this changed nothing. I loved him and I didn&#39;t care who he loved. His love and encouragement made me who I am. Marco said I&#39;m a queer icon - I&#39;m very proud of that. I fight for freedom, equity and inclusiveness every day. I built my chosen family with unconditional love. My friends and team are not defined by race, religion, age, gender or sexual orientation, but by creativity, openness, joy and kindness - values ​​that matter. If we were all more welcoming and understanding of each other, what an amazing world it would be. Thank you all&quot;.
