Designed by Balmain's Creative Director, Olivier Rousteing, to commemorate the 30th anniversary of &ldquo;The Lion King.&rdquo;

In honour of the 30th anniversary of the Academy Award&reg;-winning Walt <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/coperni-disneyland-paris-runway-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Disney</a> Animation Studios classic, &ldquo;The Lion King&rdquo;, Disney partners with <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/balmain-autumn-winter-2024-olivier-rousteing-paris-fashion-week-collection" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Balmain</a> to release a limited collection. The collection includes a range of men's and women's ready-to-wear pieces and accessories inspired by Africa's artisanal traditions. This marks the first collaboration between Disney and the historic French fashion house.

The Disney x Balmain: The Lion King collection draws directly from Disney&rsquo;s acclaimed storytelling, highlighting the memorable themes and characters from the beloved animation. The collection incorporates Balmain&rsquo;s DNA, showcasing the brand's signature silhouettes along with the House's impressive embellishment and tailoring skills. This limited-edition offering merges the creative worlds of Disney and Balmain seamlessly.

&ldquo;Working on this collaboration was a dream come true,&rdquo; notes Rousteing. &ldquo;I was only nine years old when &ldquo;The Lion King&rdquo; was first released, but still today, almost three decades later, I only need to close my eyes to replay that incredible mix of music, images and emotions. The lessons that I absorbed, as I sat, absolutely transfixed by what was happening on the giant screen in front of me, have remained with me for my entire life.&rdquo;

The collaboration also emphasises the work of a new generation of young African artists. South African painter Nika Mtwana created a striking Afrofuturistic portrait for the collection, which Olivier Rousteing transformed into vibrant prints on tees, tops, and dresses. 
Cameroonian painter Enfant Pr&eacute;coce focused on Disney's Simba, illustrating the character journeying through a dreamlike landscape filled with African wildlife. This artwork is beautifully incorporated into totes, coats, suits, and gowns, adding a unique and culturally rich element to the collection.

Disney x Balmain: The Lion Ling Collection Fashion Film

A short film directed by Femi Oladigbolu, produced in partnership with Disney and Balmain, showcases the collection. Filmed in various locations throughout South Africa&rsquo;s Western Cape province, the film beautifully combines the area's impressive natural landscapes with the collection's bold silhouettes, intricate patterns, and vibrant colours.
