With a modern twist on the iconic The Addams Family, Wednesday is on everyone's Netflix bucket list right now. In the exclusive L'Officiel interview, actress and cast member Naomi J. Ogawa (Yoko) talks about working with Christina Ricci and the influence of the series on her fashion style.

Congratulations on your role in Tim Burton&#39;s fantastic new series, Wednesday, on Netflix! How did you get the news about being part of the cast and what were your first thoughts? Naomi J. Ogawa: “Thank you so much! I&#39;m really thankful to be a part of the series. After a long audition, I got a call from my agent to pop the champagne cork because I got the part. To be honest I had so many things going through my head and I was wondering if that call was real or just an illusion. I was also excited at the thought of meeting a legend like Tim, but that was mixed with excitement as well. I was a whole bundle of feelings.”

Christina Ricci, whose acting made Wednesday Addams famous, also has a role in the new series. Have you seen them in the movies before?
Naomi J. Ogawa: &ldquo;I've seen her in a lot of movies and I'm a big fan of The Addams Family and Sleepy Hollow! I'm a huge fan of her work and it was very surreal to see her on set. I spoke to her briefly on set and she is not only talented but also a very nice and down to earth person. I loved her in the movie Monster and thought she did an incredible job alongside Charlize Theron. When I saw the film, I felt like it was a change from the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/culture/love-actually-fun-facts-film-christmas" target="_blank" rel="noopener">films</a> I'm used to seeing them in. I love how masterfully she can play somber and dark.&rdquo;

The Addams family has a rich heritage. But not only in terms of film history, but also in terms of wardrobe. Morticia Addams, played by Anjelica Houston, is still a revered fictional character to this day, whose black dress epitome is a classic film. What did your film wardrobe look like for your character?
Naomi J. Ogawa: &ldquo;It's crazy how much you can change just by putting on a costume, and Yoko was a big change for me in terms of her sense of style. She's not your typical goth girl and what I love about her is her quirky <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/categories/fashion" target="_blank" rel="noopener">fashion</a> sense that makes her look effortlessly cool. She reminds me of the cool kids at school who adhere to the uniform dress code to a certain extent, but then add their own eccentric style. It's a kind of subtle rebellion where they want to express themselves and not look like everyone else. I personally felt connected to her wearing the chunky boots because it gave me badass energy and her sunglasses are also a Yoko attribute.&rdquo;

What does your wardrobe look like? What are your favorite pieces at the moment?
Naomi J. Ogawa: &ldquo;I have a very confusing wardrobe! Oddly enough, after <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/culture/wednesday-the-addams-family-netflix-details-trailer-cast-jenny-ortega" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Wednesday</a> filming wrapped, my wardrobe changed! I started wearing heavy, chunky boots, black leather pants, and generally darker clothing. I think some elements of Yoko's gothic flair just stuck with me a bit. I also have some very <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/red-dresses-holiday-shopping" target="_blank" rel="noopener">chic outfits</a> in my closet for special occasions. At the moment I wear athleisure every day! But I love to spice up my outfits with a brown coat and Nanushka <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/6-sunglasses-trends-to-watch-this-fall" target="_blank" rel="noopener">sunglasses</a> (I'm obsessed with them) and I wear them almost every day! I pair them with uggs because they are so cute and comfy!&rdquo;

Which brands do you admire the most?
Naomi J. Ogawa: &ldquo;There are so many, and I'm also discovering new brands every day. Right now I'm obsessed with Nanushka and I've always been obsessed with <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/change-heads-prada-patrizio-bertelli-andrea-guerra" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Prada</a> , Mui Mui, <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/hommes/discover-odissea-the-new-futuristic-sneakers-from-versace" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Versace</a>, Gucci and the list goes on."

If you could pick your dream red carpet look, what would it be and which designer brands would you like to choose?
Naomi J. Ogawa: &ldquo;I can think of so many because I love fashion and dressing up! I would say one of them has to be Versace - the dresses are so sexy, quirky and elegant. It's the aesthetic of a strong woman who isn't afraid to be bold and add bright colors to her wardrobe. I would want to wear a long, slippery dress with a train, but if I'm looking for a more soft, very feminine, and beautiful look, then I love <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/art/lady-dior-art-bag-artists-collaboration" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dior</a> . It's elegant, timeless and chic.&rdquo;

You wore a lot of cool street style looks for the editorial shoot with photographer Joseph Sinclair - are these looks you would wear everyday?
Naomi J. Ogawa: &ldquo;I loved all the outfits I wore for the shoot! I wanted to take everything home with me and it hurt me to part with them. I would say that the Preen by Thornton Bregazzi outfit I wore was my favorite. I'm a huge <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/hommes/celine-man-collection-spring-summer-2023-paris-fashion-show" target="_blank" rel="noopener">bomber jacket</a> lover and I was just obsessed with the print and shape of the jacket. I liked that it had long sleeves and was cropped too! I also liked the bodysuit that matched the jacket's print. I would definitely have kept both if I could.&rdquo;

Do you have a styling tip that you would like to give to the readers of L'Officiel?
Naomi J. Ogawa: &ldquo;I would say don't be afraid to experiment and try new styles. What I've learned from my recent shoots is that sometimes clothes don't seem like they will fit off the shelf, but you should always try them on. You might surprise yourself! I used to shy away from outfits that made me think, 'Oh, that's not me', but when I gave them a chance, I realized I was seeing a different version of myself that I liked. Don't be afraid to try something new and have fun doing it!&rdquo;
