In the archaeological spaces of the Baths of Diocletian, the English artist expands his gaze on form and matter.

Tony Cragg 's work continues its journey in Italy with an exhibition in Rome at the Baths of Diocletian, which opens to the public on November 9 and will remain open until May 4, 2025. Tony Cragg. Infinite forme e bellissima , curated by Sergio Risaliti and St&eacute;phane Verger, aims to be a bridge between the forms produced in recent decades and the experimental roots of his debut in the 1970s. The English artist, one of the most significant exponents of contemporary sculpture, is in fact still on display in Venice in the exhibition Tony Cragg. Le forme del Vetro on the occasion of the 60th International Art Exhibition with the FAI, in collaboration with Berengo Studio, in the historic Olivetti Store in Piazza San Marco. The exhibition has fortunately been extended until November 24, the closing date of the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/art/venice-biennale-art-festival-2024-guide-venice-art-exhibition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">2024 edition of the Biennale.</a>

Cragg's work aimed at stressing the limit of material potential at the service of form, is at the same time an abstract starting point for reflection, therefore a metaphor, and a direct visual stimulus. If the first sculptures were made of plastic or recycled or raw materials, experimentation over time has changed the approach thanks to the influence of scientists and philosophers who have led the English artist to include new boundaries to break and new fibers to bend such as those of wood, glass, ceramic, bronze and iron.
The body of the Roman exhibition Tony Cragg. Infinite forms and beautiful set up in the halls of the Museo Nazionale Romano - Terme di Diocleziano, sees eighteen sculptures, of medium and large dimensions with immediately seductive and disturbing forms, dialogue with the archaeological spaces of the museum. A clear reference to the mineral and vegetal world, solid and liquid, where you can contemplate the beauty of a plant or a shell within a fluid dialogue both between the perimeters of the monumental complex and with what is outside, that is, the public space of the city.
