Meeting with the nomadic artist Coco Dalle-Ore, who talks to us about her creative influences as well as her latest works.

L'OFFICIEL: Can you tell us about your artistic journey and how you started in the art world?
COCO DALLE-ORE: I have always been fascinated by art in its multiple forms of expression, I joined an Art School to learn the basics, my first works were very influenced by <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/art/fidia-artist-pop-art-miami-art-basel" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Pop-Art</a>.
So I started by exhibiting my work in exhibitions and various galleries.

L'O: What made you switch from painting to terracotta, and what does this material represent for you? Can you describe your process of creating terracotta balls, from inspiration to final production?
CDO: My work evolves and I strive to push the boundaries of my art, I am constantly looking for new materials.
Terracotta has a long and rich history dating back to prehistoric times and which bears witness to human creativity. My Coconut Balls are circular panoramas, like small planets built around a journey, a theme.

L'O: Your works are often described as being both abstract and figurative. How do you manage to balance these two aspects in your work?
CDO: In my work, <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/haute-couture-by-viktor-rolf-autumn-winter-2024-25" target="_blank" rel="noopener">abstract</a> allows me to express myself freely without the constraints of visual reality, while figurative anchors recognizable and accessible elements. I let my intuition guide the first steps of the creative process and then integrate figurative elements, which allows the viewer to find points of reference and create personal connections with the work. This dialogue between abstract and figurative creates a visual dynamic that characterizes my work.

L'O: In addition to your terracotta works and paintings, you explore textile printing? How does this medium fit into your creative process and what challenges or opportunities do you find there?
CDO: I hand paint pendant lights, lamps, I also print my works on fabrics, I think my work can be completely adapted to textiles and become part of our everyday decor.

L&rsquo;O: You mentioned that imagination takes power in your works. How do you feed and maintain your imagination?
CDO: To nourish myself and maintain my imagination, I immerse myself in various forms of art and culture, <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/art/venice-biennale-art-festival-2024-guide-venice-art-exhibition" target="_blank" rel="noopener">exhibitions</a>, music, fashion, travel. These different sources of inspiration stimulate my creativity.
I also dedicate time to observing the world around me. Whether walking in nature or exploring cities, I often find ideas in the everyday details of life.

L&rsquo;O: You have traveled to many places. How do these trips influence your art and creativity?
CDO: My travels have a profound influence on my work. Every place I visit offers me new perspectives, colours, textures, and unique stories that enrich my palette.
Travelling allows me to step out of my comfort zone and see the world from different perspectives. The <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/design/architecture-maxime-bousquet-architect-studio-ko" target="_blank" rel="noopener">architecture</a>, local traditions, and even the sounds and smells of each trip leave an imprint on my work. For example, the warm tones of the landscapes of the South of France can be reflected in my colour palette.

L'O: What attracted you to Saint-Tropez, and how has this place influenced your work and your life as an artist ?
CDO: I am a Tropezian by birth, I grew up there, whether under the soft light of the morning, the bright glow of midday, the golden hues of early evening, or the sparkling reflections of the night, Saint-Tropez is a city that shines in a thousand ways and attracts artists from all over the world for that very reason.

L'O: Can you share with us some of your favorite places in Saint-Tropez that inspire you or where you like to spend time?
CDO: La Ponche for lunch or dinner with a view of the bay and the old fishing district, stroll through the narrow streets from Place de l'Ormeau to Place des Lices, take a crunchy break at Mimosa while hunting for art made in St Tropez.
