Loved by Justin Bieber and Robert Downey Jr., the artist presents his new works for the 60th anniversary of Astro Boy, a new work for the Art Miami Fair and his solo exhibition in 2024.

Designer and artist of Italian origins but based in Los Angeles, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/fidia/">Fidia</a> - born Fidia Falaschetti - embraced the world of art from an early age. Between murals and illustrations for shops and companies, he studied Production Design at the Academy of Fine Arts between Macerata and <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/travel/discover-the-perfect-destination-in-tuscany-to-experience-autumn-s-beauty" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Florence</a>, after having already undertaken his professional career as a graphic designer, illustrator and photographer. Since 2007 he decided to take the path of <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/art/frieze-london-reflecting-on-two-decades-of-contemporary-art" target="_blank" rel="noopener">contemporary art</a>, having full freedom to express his feelings: the artist felt the need to start talking about the dark side of the world, but in a creative way.
&ldquo; I see my conceptual pop art as a way to do something good for society: the more the years pass, the more important this becomes for me ,&rdquo; says FIDIA, whose works can be found in the permanent collections of the Moco Museum in Amsterdam and the Spy Scape Museum in New York, as well as other cultural centers.

Influenced by street art, hip hop, American branding, manga, anime and <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/culture/threads-of-influence-how-pop-culture-shapes-fashion-trends" target="_blank" rel="noopener">pop culture</a> icons such as cartoon characters, he distorts the figures in an unusual and dark way. The artist has created a series of 100 25 cm miniatures in oxidized copper of his sculpture " <a href="https://www.instagram.com/p/Cz4B0DYpQah/">Ass Throw Boy</a> ", inspired by the iconic Japanese manga character Astro Boy, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary. Among the upcoming novelties the artist will exhibit his new work &ldquo; Donald Fuck Redemption 4ft &rdquo; at <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/art/the-hottest-parties-pop-ups-and-events-of-art-basel-miami-beach-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Art Miami Fair</a> with his gallery owners Liquid Art System and next spring &ldquo; Crash Flow ,&rdquo; a solo exhibition of his work in galleries in Los Angeles and Tokyo.
As Fidia states: "The '80s were a very cult decade for those born in the '70s. Children grew up with the most poetic characters of cartoons, especially those of Japanese manga. We dreamed deeply of hope, freedom, trust and most of those characters gave us the chance to live our childhood and grow up in a very encouraging way. Our new generation of kids seems lost, sad, cynical... they swallow everything as if it were junk food. They no longer have dreams, but they are bored and have become consumers and today we are losing childhood cartoon heroes like Astro Boy." He adds that "We are all part of a system, a consumerist society, which we must challenge, of which we must be more aware if we want to avoid the countries of artists and poets becoming countries of influencers. Of course, I am a consumer too, but I want to start conversations: maybe people will like what I do and maybe they won't, but every response is a starting point."
Among the lovers of his works are the actor Robert Downey Jr. and the singer Justin Bieber. But not just celebrities: several collaborations have been born between the artist and fashion brands, such as the collaboration with Nike in 2010. Fidia demonstrates his support for numerous international associations that deal with human rights, including Amnesty International and Fashion Fights Cancer, and participated in the 7th Arnold Schwarzenegger Westime Charity Event.
