MSC Cruises&#39; newest flagship was christened with great fanfare in Miami by Drew Barrymore.

In the spectacular setting of PortMiami's brand-new, state-of-the-art cruise terminal, MSC World America officially joined the MSC Cruises fleet in a lavish and moving inauguration ceremony. On the dock, spotlights illuminated the elegant curves of this giant of the seas as select guests witnessed a moment rich in symbolism: the christening of the ship by its godmother, actress Drew Barrymore . Joining her is Orlando Bloom , partner of the global Let's Holiday campaign, embodying the spirit of discovery and freedom that this new era of cruising promises.
A visibly moved Drew Barrymore said: "It's a tremendous honor to be the patron of MSC World America. This beautiful new ship will allow millions of people to experience unforgettable moments, and I'm sure they will be amazed by everything this floating world has to offer."
After the traditional breaking of a bottle against the ship's bow - an ancestral gesture intended to bring luck - the celebration continued with a gala dinner, performances ranging from the famous Dirty Dancing lift to a concert by Gloria Estefan, not forgetting a performance of synchronized drones against the backdrop of <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/travel/mandarin-oriental-miami-unparalleled-luxury-in-the-heart-of-the-city" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Miami</a> Bay.

A visionary design for a reinvented cruise

The fruit of MSC 's boldness and expertise, the MSC World America embodies a new generation of cruise ships. The second ship in the World class, it brilliantly combines MSC's signature European elegance with North American comfort to appeal to a cosmopolitan clientele seeking escape.
