At just 33 years old, the one nicknamed "the new Lady Gaga " likes to experiment in her music as well as in her unique sense of style. Bringing these two worlds into symbiosis, Rina expresses her personality and her art, whose eccentricity reveals a surprising authenticity...

She also shares this intrepid approach to fashion with the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/zalando-and-chloe-sevigny-prepare-us-for-christmas-with-a-new-stylish-campaign" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Zalando</a> platform, of which she was named ambassador for 2024. This collaboration is revealed in a first cutting-edge campaign, led by renowned photographer Carlijn Jacobs and stylist Georgia Pendlebury . We discover images that capture the singer's multifaceted personality from an original point of view - with duality as the common thread. Rina Sawayama embodies different versions of herself, of the coexistence of these personalities, sometimes introverted, sometimes extroverted; sometimes solar, sometimes lunar.

L&#39;OFFICIEL: You were born and raised in Japan, then moved to the UK when you were young. How has your life inspired your music and style? Rina Sawayama: This lifestyle has definitely inspired a lot of my writing, as both albums contain songs that deal with the relationship between two cultures. As I got older, I learned to embrace all of that. I recently spent a lot of time in Japan and style-wise, the way people dress and express themselves is so amazing. LO: How do you express yourself through fashion? RS: Fashion is very different depending on where I am and who I am. For example, on stage I use fashion to play a character and take the audience on a very clear journey of what I feel and express in the music. In my personal life, fashion should be comfortable and simple, while still reflecting who I am. LO: Are there any fashion pieces or accessories that have sentimental value to you? RS: I think jewelry often has the most sentimental value for me. I have been fortunate to travel all over the world on my tours and have collected some special pieces along the way. There are also some incredible looks in my archive that I have worn at important moments in my career and that I cherish. LO: What are your favorite brands, those that stand out? RS: When I created my collection for Zalando, I wanted to offer a true capsule wardrobe, where pieces could be easily mixed and matched. I love the statement pieces from Vivienne Westwood, AWAKE, Cult Gaia and David Koma, as well as the more versatile pieces from Materiel, which have a very utilitarian feel. It’s truly a reflection of my wardrobe. LO: What advice would you give to a younger Rina, particularly about her personal style? RS: That’s a tough question! I think the advice I would give myself is to dress for myself, express myself the way I want…and make sure I’m not cold! LO: Your music often addresses the question of identity challenges. How do you stay true to yourself in an industry that can sometimes push artists to fit a certain mold? RS: I make sure to take lots of breaks and check in with how I&#39;m feeling; it can feel like you&#39;re being pulled in so many different directions that it&#39;s crucial to stay true to yourself. The temptation to work all the time is so great that I used to chase that emotion, but I&#39;m willing to take it easy right now. For example, I spend a lot of time with my family, I read, I watch movies, I explore new places.
