He's the relentlessly social New York City nightlife kingpin who's pals with everyone from Courtney Love to FKA Twigs. In our spotlight series on the fascinating careers of some of Ibiza&rsquo;s residents, we catch up with Kamil Parchomienko, director of culture and entertainment for the Six Senses Ibiza.&nbsp;

My career break was: When I was introduced by [NYC hospitality powerhouse] Jennie Yip to Andr&eacute; Balazs. I was only 17 and he was about to open <a href="https://www.instagram.com/mercerhotel/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">The Mercer Hotel</a>. I ended up working alongside Andr&eacute; for over a decade.&nbsp;
My first real job was:
Everything at the <a href="https://www.themercerkitchen.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Mercer Kitchen</a>! I started out serving breakfast after being up all night at [cult NYC nightclub] Twilo and ended up as maitre&rsquo;d to the chef Jean Georges Vongerichten! Jennie Yip once wrote to me; &lsquo;thank you for being my first host, barista, busser, dishwasher, gofer, prep cook, runner, bellman, manager on duty and lifetime friend, and for showing up at every day at 6am in your Prada suits.&rsquo; I guess that sums up my entry into hospitality!

The highlight of my career was:
Being in charge of Submercer, the best-kept secret club in New York &ndash; at only 19 years old. Submercer was in the sub-basement of the Mercer Hotel &ndash; you had to enter via an unmarked door then ride a freight elevator to get there. The crowd was resolutely A-list and it was a time before social media, so the attitude was very much &lsquo;anything goes&rsquo;. I have endless spicy stories &ndash; I could write a book!&nbsp;
My favourite cities to work in are:
I really loved Miami. I was very involved with creating and executing&nbsp;The Standard hotels brand in the USA. Miami is special because the hotel is right on the water and the lifestyle is so warm and laidback, with everyone turning up by boat to the restaurant and bar. I spent several years at <a href="http://www.chateaumarmont.com/" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Chateau Marmont</a> in LA and that of course was wild &ndash; wild! The parties there were literally just controlled chaos. My last stop with Andr&eacute; Balazs was NYC&rsquo;s infamous <a href="https://www.standardhotels.com/new-york/features/top-of-the-standard">Boom Boom Room</a> &ndash; glittery, gold fabulous days and nights that (thankfully!) can&rsquo;t be repeated.

My first trip to Ibiza was:&nbsp;
Fifteen years ago, on a one-week clubbing trip with friends. I was not impressed, and I left thinking the whole island just revolved around partying and superclubs.
What I wish I&rsquo;d know about Ibiza then:
That living in the north for five months would change my life!&nbsp;The people, the nature, the wellness, the spirituality, the close community and the epic level of kindness!&nbsp; Ibiza blew my mind this year. I was surrounded by stylish, smart and interesting humans all summer and I swear there was never a dull moment. I simply did not realise how international this island is.

Ibiza has made me grateful for:
The chance to see old friends that I haven&rsquo;t seen for years! And for building a community of solid friends who will be in my life for evermore. My goal for next season is to bring more fierce humans to this island and to share my playground with them.&nbsp;
I live on the island in:
Ibiza Old Town. I loved my time living in the north but I&rsquo;m a city boy at heart, so now I have the best of both worlds. I live in a charming town and work in the heart of the wild north.&nbsp;

My New Year plans are:
To keep exploring this magical island and making new discoveries. I didn&rsquo;t have so much free time this year so next year I&rsquo;m going to carve out the space to really appreciate the beauty.
For someone who didn&rsquo;t know the island I would say:
Set the intention of your experience, open your heart and the island will take care of the rest!&nbsp;But remember, Ibiza is not for everyone.&nbsp;
