Biology Baroque and Bunny Scooters:&nbsp;
The artist Alex Valentina is throwing a party for decomposition and everyone&rsquo;s invited &ndash; rabbits on scooters, phosphorescent shells and you.

Opening April 10th at <a href="https://www.instagram.com/inbetweenibiza/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">In Between Ibiza</a>, Baroque Biology marks Valentina&rsquo;s first solo exhibition, a dreamlike menagerie of digital organisms, uncanny patterns and visuals suspended in mid-metamorphosis. Equal parts natural history museum and fever dream, the show leans full tilt into life&rsquo;s most theatrical tendency &ndash; excess.

&ldquo;I see biology as immensely messy,&rdquo; Valentina says, his voice equal parts philosopher and trickster. &ldquo;Much more baroque than people imagine. There&rsquo;s something kind of cute about that.&rdquo;
Valentina speaks like he creates: with a mix of precision and playful curiosity. His work flirts with both the hyperreal and the hallucinatory. Think glowing minerals, shifting creatures, and shells that seem to breathe. Everything pulses with energy &ndash; a digital s&eacute;ance of sorts, channeled through 3D rendering and raw imagination.
&ldquo;I feel a certain tenderness toward anything connected to life&rsquo;s processes,&rdquo; he explains. &ldquo;Even in its decay. Especially in its decay.&rdquo;
Valentina operates in the space between disciplines, between nature and code, between structure and chaos. With a foundation in 3D art and photography, his images blend synthetic and organic textures &ndash; sometimes glistening, sometimes grotesque, always deliberate. &ldquo;Fantasy for me isn&rsquo;t an escape. It&rsquo;s an expansion. It opens doors reality keeps locked.&rdquo;
Currently based in Milan, his commissioned work reads like a modern design syllabus &ndash; Apple, The New York Times, Vogue, YouTube, Maison Kitsun&eacute;, BMW &ndash; proof that Valentina can walk the tightrope between commerce and creativity without diluting his aesthetic. His work has graced the pages of Zeit Magazin, Der Spiegel, Crack, and gallery walls from New York to Barcelona. And now, Ibiza.. &ldquo;Screens are my native material,&rdquo; he says, &ldquo;but lifelessness never interests me. I always search for something that feels alive &ndash; fragile, excessive, unfinished.&rdquo;
That restlessness carries into the exhibition&rsquo;s theme. Baroque Biology dances with transformation, not as a grand metaphor, but as a biological and emotional inevitability. &ldquo;Who I was ten years ago feels unrecognizable,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;Even a year ago. Change happens constantly. You don&rsquo;t always feel it, but it&rsquo;s there.&rdquo;
Ibiza, too, plays a role in this evolution. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m grateful this show happens on an island,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;There&rsquo;s both isolation and intimacy. Something about being cut off softens people. It makes space for new forms to emerge.&rdquo;
The location &ndash; In Between Ibiza &ndash; feels almost custom-built for this kind of alchemical thinking. Founded by Jessica Courtney, the gallery sits between the entrance to the castle and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Its name reflects its ethos: a space between worlds, between tradition and modernity, between structure and fluidity.
&ldquo;In Between exists to uplift, connect, and inspire,&rdquo; Courtney says. &ldquo;We believe art functions best when it encourages community, reflection, and joy. Especially now.&rdquo;
Valentina&rsquo;s work fits this mission with uncanny precision. It resists clean answers. It invites viewers to consider energy in flux, matter in transition, beauty in the process of becoming. &ldquo;Being lost for a while offers the best start for discovering new worlds,&rdquo; he adds. &ldquo;Sometimes, losing your way becomes the only way forward.&rdquo;
The exhibition also introduces his first book &ndash; an object meant to be held, flipped through, and explored like a cabinet of curiosities. &ldquo;It&rsquo;s mostly fragments,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;Stories, sketches, overheard conversations, screenshots, strange thoughts. A collection of things I care about. And a few tiny creatures.&rdquo;
Impermanence becomes a recurring theme. In a world obsessed with longevity, legacy, and linearity, Baroque Biology offers something else &ndash; an invitation to embrace life&rsquo;s ornamental detours. &ldquo;The forest lives forever because it dies and dies,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;That line stuck with me. The idea that survival happens through transformation, not permanence.&rdquo;
So what should viewers feel when they walk into this world of decomposing opulence and digital grace?
&ldquo;A rabbit on a scooter,&rdquo; he says. &ldquo;That&rsquo;s the vibe.&rdquo;
