The Colombian fashion designer opens up about his Ibiza-inspired label, Donde Esteban, and his deep roots on the island.

Its vibrant and unique approach to resortwear celebrates Esteban&rsquo;s roots, which spans Cartagena, Miami, Ibiza, and Paris.&nbsp; <o:p></o:p> Vivid prints, created in close collaboration with his father, Valentino Cort&aacute;zar, and other artists within his community, are integrated with laid-back silhouettes to create unisex pieces infused with Caribbean-meets-Mediterranean flavor and offering an effortlessly cool and enthusiastic approach. Donde Esteban creates an authentic and welcoming world with Esteban&rsquo;s distinctive flair and joy for life.&nbsp;

Tell us about what Ibiza means to you?
<a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/giorgio-armani-interview-l-officiel-ibiza-my-ibiza" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ibiza</a> has been part of my heart and soul since I was born. It's where my parents got married in 1981, and where my father lived during all of the 1970&rsquo;s and was part of the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/made-in-ibiza-book-launch-estudio-laterna" target="_blank" rel="noopener">creative community</a> in Ibiza. I grew up listening to his fascinating stories about his time on the island and what it meant to him. This was passed on to me and it&rsquo;s where I have spent all of my summers for many years now. I feel so free in Ibiza and full of love, wisdom and energy. I am blessed because I have met some of my closest friends for life in Ibiza. Friends that lift me and inspire me every day to create and dream big but also to be a good person. Ibiza is a magical island and when she welcomes you, it's for a lifetime.

What lifestyle are you trying to portray with your collection?

Transporting people into my world in the most authentic way. It is about giving my community a true image of who I am as a person, where I come from, who my family, my friends, my community are, and the places that have shaped me, all into one concept and platform that goes beyond fashion, lifestyle and culture. I wanted to create a lifestyle adventure where I could dream beyond fashion and for it to take me to the places that I love the most. Ibiza is on the top of that list! This first chapter and collection incorporates vivid prints, created in close collaboration with my father, Valentino Cort&aacute;zar, and other artists within my community. One of the prints is of Es Vedr&agrave; by my dad, as well as others of sunsets in Bar&uacute;, Cartagena and the striking beauty of the Magdalena River and La Sierra Nevada in <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/colombia-travel-guide-places-to-go-in-colombia-luxury-travel-maven-s-marcia-lee" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Colombia</a>.

How and where do you find inspiration?
Life is a constant inspiration for me. If you pay attention and contemplate nature, you will discover the most magical things in existence.&nbsp;My muses are my close friends, the people I spend my summers with, dance with, that constantly inspire me. That is when ideas come to me. I also always draw inspiration from the different places that have shaped me, especially in connection to this idea of never-ending summer. When I connected the dots between Ibiza, Cartagena and Miami, I realized that all of them are places that make me feel that way and at home.

Who is your ideal customer?
Someone with a <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/bohemian-style-boho-ibiza-fashion-free-spirited-ibiza-style" target="_blank" rel="noopener">free spirit</a> that loves to dance and move to their own rhythm. Someone that loves color and that gets moved by clothing with a personal story behind them. Someone that lives life to the fullest.&nbsp;

Tell us where in Ibiza you are at your happiest?
That&rsquo;s a tough one. I would say I am the happiest at my dear friend Pepita&rsquo;s Bed and breakfast in Dalt Vila where I stay every summer. I just love the ease and the fact that it's a beautiful room with a view. It feels like a second home. I love walking around the Ibiza town and seeing the action at night and yet it feels so local and authentic all the time. I love the north of the island so much and I also love it when I chill at different friends' homes and discover their personal universe. Or when my friends and I go to all of our secret beaches and calas that we won&rsquo;t share with anyone so that we keep them as they are.
