Originally from Menorca and Majorcan by adoption, the talented photographer Cecilia Renard takes a poetic look at the ethereal beauty of the Balearic archipelago.

What was your background, and how did you start photography? I started photography when I was around 15, with a reflex camera. I then photographed my friends on the beach, surfing or during long days of hiking all around the island of Menorca. At the age of 18, a friend of mine gave me my first analog camera, and I quickly realized that it was going to become a passion. Growing up, I moved to Madrid to study at university, although those years did not satisfy my curiosity and thirst to learn about art and photography. When I finished my studies, I therefore decided to try to impose myself in this environment and to learn on my own, nourishing my passion with advice gleaned from around me and on the internet. I found my first job in a communication agency, where I was hired thanks to my blogspot site where I then posted my photos. Your work shows all the beauty and diversity specific to each Balearic island. What is your relationship with Mallorca and Menorca, and how would you describe these places to someone who has never set foot there? These two places symbolize for me the power of light, nature and beauty. I lived in other countries and in many other cities, but I decided to return to my roots because it is now the most important thing for my peace of mind and for the fulfillment of my career. . I was born on the island of Menorca which is smaller, more intimate than that of Majorca. I grew up there in a very calm and very wild environment. I moved to Mallorca two years ago in the town of Soller and the island has become my home, I like to live surrounded by these massive mountains that are not found on my home island. Here, I discovered the possibility of evolving professionally without the disadvantages of living in a big city. Many positive things are happening here and I feel fully balanced, at peace and in my place. In your photos, you celebrate the Balearic art of living and its languor. What are the places or details that feed your inspiration? I won&#39;t be able to name them all! It&#39;s all about moments, and everyday things that happen around us: a sunset, a walk in nature, a shadow or the reflection of simple objects. You give to see deserted and peaceful landscapes. Is the off-season the most creatively stimulating for you? For the past three years, I&#39;ve been away from the islands in the summer. I find the high season too hot and too crowded. The off season period is for me the most extraordinary! This is when the islands reveal the full extent of their wild and peaceful beauty. We feel connected to nature, and my favorite addresses are not taken by storm. I rediscover the pleasure of local markets, hikes, pottery and ceramics, and the pleasure of receiving my loved ones at home. You are followed by more than 43,000 followers on Instagram. How has social media influenced your career? Social networks have democratized things for artists, these platforms have opened doors that were previously difficult to reach; Instagram is now a real window on the world that gives visibility to young artists and young talents. It is also in my opinion a double-edged sword, because it can sometimes be very stressful to see other artists sharing their work and producing more than yourself! Social networks tend to make us lose sight of the fact that each of us has our own pace and our own way of working.
