L&rsquo;OFFICIEL IBIZA meets Arkadyan, the unstoppable organic house music trio who are soundtracking the summer in Ibiza.&nbsp;

Formed in Dubai, <a href="https://www.instagram.com/arkadyanmusic/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Arkadyan</a> incorporate traditional instruments, live production and exotic, tribal rhythms into their fluid, high-energy performances. As the groundbreaking electronic music trio continue to evolve and experiment, there&rsquo;s a sense that they are shaping the future sound of <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/music/house-techno-music-history-dance-party-songs" target="_blank" rel="noopener">house music</a>.&nbsp;

LOI: You're all from different parts of the world &ndash; can you tell me a little bit about the roots of the Arkadyan story?

Benjy: I&rsquo;m the percussionist and the founder of Arkadyan and I&rsquo;m French. My wife Marina is a DJ and producer. She's Latvian but we met in Dubai, which is where we're based most of the year. Our best friend Gabriel is the trumpet player and he lives in the South of France, near Saint Tropez. Each of us brings over 20 years of experience to the table, having played, recorded, and performed across various genres &ndash; from jazz and rock to reggae, salsa and classical music. This rich musical tapestry forms the foundation of our sound &ndash; it&rsquo;s a very dynamic and layered experience.

LOI: You&rsquo;re based in Ibiza this summer &ndash; how did your Balearic journey begin?

B: We played a couple of shows in <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/hotel-los-felices-ibiza-an-oasis-of-chic" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Ibiza</a> last year &ndash; at Sacro with Mestiza and at <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/artist-carlito-dalceggio-in-ibiza-estudio-laterna-club-chinois" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Club Chinois</a> with Pablo Fierro. Following one of our shows at [cult Mykonos beach club] Scorpios, we were approached by the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/people-of-ibiza/people-of-ibiza-sofija-mehta-island-hospitality">owner of Beachouse</a>. We ended up having breakfast together the next day and we had an instant connection. The idea for an Ibiza residency was born very quickly and it&rsquo;s been the perfect synergy.

LOI: What do you think about the energy of Ibiza? How does it compare to other places?&nbsp;

B: For us, Ibiza is a fantasy because it&rsquo;s so embedded in house music culture. As soon as you arrive in Ibiza, as soon as you see the billboards on the airport road, you understand it's a party place. You feel it in the streets, in the air, on the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/must-visit-places-in-ibiza-to-enjoy-in-spring-before-the-summer-ibiza-guide-2024" target="_blank" rel="noopener">beaches</a>. In the music industry world, there is no other place like this. The energy is extraordinary and it&rsquo;s one of the best places in the world to see people really lose themselves on the dancefloor. They're really only here for the house music and it shows.

 LOI: Have you discovered the slower side of the island too?

B: Absolutely! Because of our weekly residency at <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/beach-house-ibiza-sofija-mehta-our-house-is-yours" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Beachouse</a>, Marina and I have based ourselves and our children here on the island for the summer. Our grandparents are staying with us to take care of the kids when we travel. We love the contrast of travelling to our high-energy touring dates then returning to the hippie markets, the serene beaches, the tiny villages and the paradise that is Formentera. Ibiza really is a remarkable place and it has been such a privilege to stay and create here.

LOI: What are your hopes for the future of Arkadyan?
 B: We want to continue to mix all our combined knowledge and skills into how we feel, how we express ourselves, the music and how we play it. We want to really push this and to show there is a new way of creating house music, live on stage. This was always our goal when we formed Arkadyan &ndash; it was about creating a new type of experience for the crowd; to be able to dance and also to see what they are listening to in front of them. When you watch a DJ there can be a sense of disconnect if you don&rsquo;t understand what they are doing. We are constantly moving, jumping, grabbing our instruments and playing the notes that you hear in real time. It&rsquo;s a cool experience for the crowd and it makes us feel very connected to the dancefloor. Ultimately, we want to be known for our music and for our skills and our heart. We want to sweat on stage and create an insane energy and to live 100% in every moment. That is our goal.

With Mestiza at SACRO, Cova Santa, on Saturday.
At their residency, Arkadyan Voyage, at Beachouse on Sunday.
