L&rsquo;OFFICIEL IBIZA catches up with Archie Hamilton, the London-based DJ, producer and label owner known for his wild sets at Circoloco.&nbsp;

Archie Hamilton&rsquo;s remarkable rise through the ranks of underground&nbsp;house and techno has earnt him a reputation as one of Europe&rsquo;s originators of the minimal sound. Now he debuts on&nbsp;Defected&nbsp;Records&nbsp;with Let the Light In, moving away from his trademark stripped-back sound to explore classic vocal house influences. It&rsquo;s a&nbsp;full circle moment for Hamilton, whose humble industry beginnings started as an intern at Defected close to two decades ago. With summer dates at Pacha and H&iuml; already confirmed, we caught up with <a href="https://www.instagram.com/archiebhamilton/?hl=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Archie Hamilton</a> to find out what makes him tick.&nbsp;

Where do you live and with whom?
In London with my wife
How did you get into music:
I&rsquo;ve always been into all kinds of music. I grew up in the countryside outside of London so didn&rsquo;t really have much connection to club culture, but my mum and my aunt were into clubbing so as a kid I grew up surrounded by the it as well as reading magazines like DJ Mag and Mixmag. I became totally fascinated by the culture and wanted to get involved, I started going to clubs at 17 / 18 and the rest really is history.&nbsp;
Best city in the world to DJ and why?
Ah there are so many different cities I love and for so many different reasons, it&rsquo;s really hard to pin down one but I&rsquo;ll give it a go. Lots of cities in Latin America are amazing, the atmosphere is unparalleled but London however I would obviously say being biased as it&rsquo;s my hometown, but I&rsquo;ve always loved the vibe here. There&rsquo;s so much history for me, so I&rsquo;m going to say London.&nbsp;
The most memorable trip I've ever taken:
I think in terms of my career, probably my first tour of Columbia - we were staying in this house in the middle of the sea called Casa en el Agua which was amazing!&nbsp;
The first trip I ever took to Mexico was also very special - I played some fantastic shows over there but also proposed to my wife so I will forget that one.

The best party I've ever been to:
It&rsquo;s not really a party but the most amazing experience in terms of music would probably be Glastonbury Festival. There&rsquo;s nowhere on like it on earth - there&rsquo;s this unexplainable human connection and powerful energy that comes with the festival. If you haven&rsquo;t been, do yourself a favour, you won&rsquo;t be disappointed I promise you.&nbsp;
A moment that defined or changed my career:
There have been a few, but I would say that in around 2014/15 when my music was beginning to be picked up and played by big artists. In that year hearing so many of my tracks be played in places like Amnesia and festivals like Sonar and by so many of my heroes really gave me the confidence and self-belief which probably spurred me on to the next level.&nbsp;
Festival or nightclub?
This is a tricky one. It&rsquo;s probably a <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/ibiza/the-return-of-ibiza-s-legendary-aura" target="_blank" rel="noopener">nightclub</a> in terms of connecting with a crowd, that said you also can&rsquo;t beat the vibe of a festival&hellip;I&rsquo;ll get back to you on this one.&nbsp;
An object I&rsquo;ll never part with:
Currently my noise cancelling headphones for flights.&nbsp;
My most-used piece of equipment is:&nbsp;
As I&rsquo;m on the road so much I think it&rsquo;s got to be my laptop.&nbsp;
My signature style is:
Timeless house music&nbsp;

My wingman / wing woman is who and why?
Wingman has got to be my long-suffering tour manager. And of course, my wing woman is my wife.&nbsp;
My go-to recipe is?
In the morning I reckon something like an omelette aux fines herbs. But I do fancy stews in the winter as a real <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/food/grace-berrow-s-wintry-one-pot-wonders" target="_blank" rel="noopener">comfort food</a>.&nbsp;
If I&rsquo;m not out DJing then instead I&rsquo;m doing what?
I&rsquo;m home on my sofa with my feet up, enjoying some downtime.
My ultimate Ibiza memory is:
The early mornings, circa 2014, in Amnesia with the sun coming up listening to people like Marco Carola and Sven V&auml;th work their magic.&nbsp;
My goal in Ibiza this summer:
I don&rsquo;t have a specific goal to be honest, I just want to play great shows each week and continue to bring my own individuality to the clubs. I want to try and enjoy as much non-party time as possible on the island though. Can&rsquo;t wait to be back.
