Inspired by the experimental watch that accompanied him on his historic dive in the Mariana Trench on March 26, 2012 (down to -10,908 meters), the Deepsea Challenge marks a new milestone in the world of diving watches offered by Rolex.</span></p><div class="page" title="Page 3"><div class="layoutArea"><div class="column"><p> <span>The design of the watch that accompanied James Cameron&#39;s dive was a major challenge in terms of size and time for the Rolex manufacture. During a seven-hour dive, three of which would be spent in the abyssal depths to film and collect specimens, this experimental watch perfectly withstood the phenomenal pressure of the environment, just like the one from 1960.</span></p></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div></div>

It took several years of research to face the technological challenges, both in watchmaking and in industry, related to its creation.</span></p><p> <span>The 2012 experimental watch was attached to the articulated arm of James Cameron&#39;s submersible, but the Deepsea Challenge was designed to be worn on the wrist. From the manufacture of the case to the manufacture of the bracelet, everything has been planned with a view to the everyday use of this 50 mm diameter watch. This is a watchmaking feat made possible by the use of a grade 5 titanium alloy selected by Rolex, RLX titanium.</span></p><p> <span>With guaranteed waterproofing to a <span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">depth of 11,000 meters, made of RLX titanium and equipped with a helium valve and Ringlock system, it is capable of following any type of dive, in open water, submersibles or hyperbaric chambers.
