It's hard to think of anything more emblematic than <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/beauty/the-best-nail-trends-for-the-winter-season" target="_blank" rel="noopener">tartan</a> when thinking about British style. On a kilt or a <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/how-to-style-plaid-outfits-this-autumn" target="_blank" rel="noopener">plaid</a>, this model, which we no longer hear about, tartan is the fashion trend for <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/stylish-dogs-fashion-campaigns-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">winter 2023</a>. Tartan is the ideal trend for Christmas parties. On the catwalks, designers use their imagination to reinterpret the wool fabric, whose stripes and patterns originally referenced a specific Scottish clan.
At <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/thom-browne-fall-winter-2023-runway-fashion-show-nyfw-looks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Thom Browne</a>, for example, tartan covers large oversized tweed coats with mazi stripes and is even combined with cashmere in dresses with shoulder pads. Building on Burberry's historic legacy, designer Daniel Lee used the famous motif on numerous silhouettes in his first collection for Burberry in London, this time in a pop colour palette combining pink and purple, or yellow and electric blue. In Paris, tartan concluded its epic journey in the great fashion houses, where designers were largely inspired by the 50s and 60s. While Anthony Vaccarello remained understated for Saint Laurent with an elegantly draped plaid worn as a cape, an oversized coat, a pencil skirt and a slim-collared shirt, Maria Grazia Chiuri used tartan on a multitude of corolla dresses and full skirts of Dior , which seemed to come straight from Swinging London.
Tartan was also present in the silhouettes of <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/issey-miyake-womens-show-autumn-winter-2023-24-collection-look-photos" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Issey Miyake</a> or as a must-have motif in the Vivienne Westwood by Andreas Kronthaler fashion show, in homage to the designer Vivienne Westwood, who passed away in December 2022, who invented punk fashion (and of whom tartan was taken as an emblem) whose creations will be on display until January 14, 2024 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in Dundee, Scotland, in the " Tartan" exhibition, dedicated to the influence of tartan over the centuries.
