The Roman designer, third generation of the family that founded the fashion house in 1925, will be the maison&#39;s honorary president. A successor has not yet been announced.

Silvia Venturini Fendi is leaving the creative direction of Fendi, marking a historic turning point for the Roman fashion house. After working alongside Karl Lagerfeld from 1992 to 2019 and leading the accessories and menswear lines since 1994, as well as the women's collection in recent years, from October 1st, she will take on the prestigious role of Honorary President of Fendi, which celebrated its centenary in 2025. "These have been truly exciting years," declared the Roman designer, "a journey that I have also undertaken in the name of my grandmother Adele, my mother Anna and my sisters. My heart goes out to Karl, an extraordinary master who honoured me to work alongside him, teaching me the art of sharing fundamental quality in the history of my family of women and to cultivate and protect my creative vision, so that I can then fly with my own wings."

As creative director for accessories, menswear and children's fashion, Silvia Venturini Fendi was the last heir of the family dynasty still active at the historic Roman fashion house, where she designed the famous Baguette bag, which became a global icon thanks in part to some cult scenes in the series Sex and the City. Daughter of Anna Fendi - one of the sisters who transformed the fur atelier founded by their parents, Edoardo and Adele, into an international luxury giant - Silvia Venturini Fendi grew up immersed in the brand's universe. In 1965, when she was just five years old, she witnessed Karl Lagerfeld 's arrival as creative director: a collaboration that lasted until 2019, marking the longest-running relationship between a designer and a fashion house in fashion history.

After studying in Italy and the UK, Silvia Venturini Fendi has touched every sector of the company, from marketing for the Fendissime line she created in 1987, to directing the men's collections since 2000 and, inter alia, women's collections after Kim Jones' departure in 2024. In 2001, with the acquisition by LVMH, Fendi embarked on a new phase of global expansion. Her latest show, presented in Milan with the spring 2026 collection, celebrated the brand's joyful and experimental spirit.

Regarding the creative future, the house has not yet revealed any details, limiting itself to stating that the new organisation will be announced "in due course." With the next fashion weeks scheduled for January and February, Silvia Venturini Fendi 's successor- or successors- will have to be announced soon, unless the new creative director's debut can coincide with the Spring/Summer 2026 shows. Three names are currently at the centre of speculation: Maria Grazia Chiuri, free after her time at Dior; Francesco Risso, former creative director of Marni; and New York designer Willy Chavarria, recognised for his inclusive and experimental approach to menswear.
