Paco Rabanne, the iconic Spanish fashion designer, passed away at the age of 88. His legacy as a fashion innovator and pioneer in the industry will live on, as will his influence on the world of fashion and style.&nbsp; L'OFFICIEL IBIZA took a deep dive into the magazine's archives to honour his life and work.&nbsp;

Paco Rabanne was&nbsp;a Spanish fashion designer and perfumer whose innovative designs and extravagant materials have had a lasting influence on the fashion industry. 
Born in 1934, Rabanne began his fashion career in the 1960s as an assistant to couturiers such as Balenciaga and Givenchy. His first collection debuted in 1966 and featured futuristic designs made from unconventional materials, such as metal and plastic. These designs quickly caught the attention of the fashion world and Rabanne became one of the most sought-after designers of the time.

PACO RABANNE: 'I have introduced a few unpublished pieces into the history of fashion: a short red bottom dress, line cut, neat neckline clearing the neck, a steel mesh fishnet, then goes on a navy pantsuit. We say to ourselves: this is perfect. A few well-tailored jackets, adorned with brooches and removable metal bars, a mini sheath in silver mesh, another entirely in gold, a tuxedo with fuzzy trousers, fabric that imitates steel, embroideries in the architecture section, imagined three-dimensional cities in space, already built on metal mesh twenty centimeters from the ground.'

Paco Rabanne made buttons, belts, accessories and chain mail with matching bags for Balenciaga, where his mother was head of the workshop before the war. His prolific career saw him being feature in L'OFFICIEL over 500 times.&nbsp;
