Moschino&#39;s Spring/Summer 2026 collection, led by Creative Director Adrian Appiolaza, is a powerful artistic and environmental statement, crafted as a timely response to global ecological crises.

By reinterpreting the philosophy of Arte Povera (Poor Art) - the art of making great things out of humble materials - Appiolaza has turned the brand&rsquo;s attention to sustainability and reuse. It&rsquo;s an important move, harking back to the social engagement that was at the core of founder Franco Moschino&rsquo;s approach, an aspect Appiolaza has largely avoided since taking over.

Reconstructing materials and liberating shapes
The theme running through the collection was &ldquo;reuse, recycle, reimagine&rdquo;, transforming ordinary materials into high-end ready-to-wear pieces. The creativity started with the basics: potato sacks were customised and re-imagined into structured gowns and sharp skirts. Secondhand materials were also brought in, with dresses made using collage techniques from old T-shirts or reconstructed from vintage pieces. Rope and laces replaced embroidery as intricate decorative details, while raffia woven from recycled plastic brought texture and environmental awareness to knitwear. The mix of materials was complemented by striking shapes such as crinoline and bouffant dresses, creating dramatic contrasts of shape. 
Symbolic games: humour, irony and cautionary messages 
Moschino's trademark playful and playful personality is evident in its satirical accessories and prints. The famous Appiolaza "gag bags" continue to appear with a variety of ironic touches, such as the sand bucket, the cooking pot, and especially the leather handbag designed to look like cardboard stamped "Fragile", referring to waste and overconsumption. Moschino classics such as smiley faces, trompe-l'&oelig;il effects and newspaper prints from the early 90s reappear with a contemporary twist. The highlight is the T-shirt dress printed with a baby's face and the warning "Stop!", along with the "baby tee" carrying the same message, emphasizing the call to action on the environment and consumption.
