A journey through time and the story of an epochal collaboration

The collaboration between Louis Vuitton and Takashi Murakami first appeared in 2003, under the creative direction of <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/marc-jacobs-collection-autumn-winter-2024-25-photos-looks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Marc Jacobs</a> , who decided to combine the classic LV monogram with Murakami's colorful and playful aesthetic. The result is one of the most coveted collections of the 21st century. The famous Monogram Multicolour on a black and white background, enriched with 33 different colors, became a symbol of a new era in fashion, where luxury and pop culture meet for sensational collaborations.
After 20 years, Louis Vuitton and Murakami return with a joyful re-edition of the collection with over 200 creations including bags, accessories, shoes and perfumes, this collection celebrates the evolution of a partnership that has endured over time, crossing generations and capturing global attention.

A new LV monogram. Strictly multicolor!

At the heart of the Louis Vuitton x Takashi Murakami collection is the Monogram Multicolour, which is created using advanced printing technologies. The processes in the new collaboration allow for greater definition and vividness of the colors compared to the original 2003 version. Murakami's fun motifs, including the Superflat Panda and the smiling flowers of the Superflat Garden , return to decorate the bags of the LVMH group brand, such as the Speedy 25 , the Alma BB , and the OnTheGo . The collection also includes small leather goods, jewellery, silk scarves, sunglasses, and even a skateboard and a custom-made Malle containing 33 Speedy bags.

A collaboration that comes to life in Milan

To celebrate this re-edition, Louis Vuitton has organized an extraordinary event in the heart of Milan . From January 3, 2025, the streets of the city that is a symbol of Italian fashion will be tinged with the colours of the Monogram Multicolour with the customization of historic wooden trams from the 1920s, decorated with Murakami's motifs. Zendaya is the face of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami campaign

A great collaboration always needs a great campaign with a great personality. Bringing the collaboration to life is actress and singer <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/louis-vuitton-diane-the-90s-inspired-bag-zendaya" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Zendaya</a> , ambassador of the Maison Louis Vuitton. The shots, taken by Dutch photographers Inez and Vinoodh , show Zendaya immersed in Murakami's psychedelic universe, including roller coasters, historic bridges and urban parks. The flowers of the Superflat Garden and the Superflat Panda characters play with the LV logo, creating a dynamic and surprising visual experience. The campaign also includes two short films: a teaser in which Murakami sends a flip-top cell phone to Zendaya and a video in which the actress dances with Murakami's characters. This campaign celebrates the playful and bold spirit of the collection, uniting past and present in an explosion of colours.

The Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection from January 2025

The first release of the Louis Vuitton x Murakami collection will be on January 1, 2025 in Asia and January 3, 2025 in the rest of the world. While the second chapter, dedicated to the Cherry Blossom motif , will be available in March 2025, while a third chapter is scheduled for mid-year.
