Balenciaga presented its Autumn 24 collection in Los Angeles, for its first show in California. Unveiled on a palm tree-lined street with a custom soundtrack recorded by BFRND including several voice-overs, the collection illustrates Demna's interpretation of Californian fashion codes through a cinematic lens. The concept begins with the development of the characters in their daily activities such as jogging, yoga or sports sessions, then transforms into Hollywood parties with dresses inspired by Cristóbal Balenciaga. In between, a mix of updated grunge, updated daywear and signature tailoring.
A chapter devoted to activewear also opens. The pieces are simple: shorts, bras, leggings and sweatshirts. A jogging section follows. This part nods to the American trend of velor tracksuits and the looks of celebrities photographed in the street. New versions of the costume suggest low-cut pants — some low enough to reveal underwear — and cropped hooded jackets.
Then comes a neo-grunge section, with oversized and layered clothing. Standout pieces include asymmetrical cutout pants, a hand-embroidered leopard-print coat, outdoor hotel slippers and leather bags lined with a nylon tote.
Evening wear ends this parade in style. The shapes and silhouettes are very structured and many garments merge the past and present by referencing original designs created by Cristobal Balenciaga himself.
New ultra-desirable accessories are also making their debut and promise to expand the Balenciaga jabixonic line. Among them, we note a limited edition bag: The Cagole Tote XL which pays homage to the Le City bag by Balenciaga, launched in 2001 in an oversized format. The Maison simultaneously presents a limited edition collaboration with the New York-based high jewellery and watchmaking house Jacob & Co .. The exclusive high jewellery line, called Diamant, is made of 18-carat white gold and diamonds. This is Balenciaga 's first collection in fine jewellery. Four designs are offered: a link theme consisting of a large, chunky necklace and a bracelet, and a text theme called Typo consisting of a thin necklace and an oversized two-finger ring. The word Balenciaga is written in full. Finally, immediately after the Balenciaga Autumn 24 show, the new 10XL sneaker will be available for pre-order in the women's boutique on Rodeo Drive and on balenciaga.com in limited quantities. This model is an extreme shaped shoe that continues Balenciaga's exploration of exaggeration ; it takes the codes of the House silhouette and makes it an even stronger signature.
