Dior brings the Fall 2023 show to the Gateway of India in Mumbai. A narrative that explains the link with India, made up of archival references, a celebration of craftsmanship and female empowerment.<div id="gmp-videoincontent" class="gmp"></div>

Maria Grazia Chiuri explains at the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/dior-womens-show-autumn-winter-2023-24-collection-photo-look" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Dior</a> <a href="lofficielitalia.com/moda/maria-grazia-chiuri-maripol-dior-fiorucci-collezione-foto" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Fall</a> 2023 show , &laquo;With this show I want to celebrate India, the incredible culture of this country in terms of embroidery and craftsmanship. I want to celebrate the long friendship with Chanakya. I want to celebrate Indian women." In front of the <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/dior-show-india-mumbai-pre-fall-2023" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Gateway of India</a>, the arch-monument built at the beginning of the 20th century in the city of Mumbai , the creations show the enchanting link between Dior France and India. &laquo;I felt the need to show and enhance the behind the scene&raquo; an artistic work made of craftsmanship and savoir-faire carried forward by Dior's m&eacute;tier d'art in India. The embroideries stand out, made by the historic Chanakya traditional Indian embroidery atelier, led today by the daughter of the founder as well as creative director Karishma Swali , who has been collaborating for 30 with Maria Grazia Chiuri with whom in 2016, they founded together the first female embroidery school. Their savoir-faire has contributed to and inspired the work of feminist artists who have collaborated with the French Maison; such as for example the textile creations of the setting by Judy Chicago, or Eva Jospin , who was inspired by the splendid Sala dei Ricami of Palazzo Colonna in Rome to create the environmental installation which extended for 350 m2.

The Fall 2023 collection is built on details. Traditional motifs, flowers, references to sahri, geometric shapes and an unfailing accent based on Indian decoration ranging from sequins and silver rhinestones to kaleidoscopic prints placed on silk pyjamas, blouses and dresses. Among the collection references there are also some garments made in the 1950s by Marc Bohan - who at the time was invited by the Indian government as a spokesperson for trade between France and India - but also Princess Gayatri Devi, a powerful and revolutionary woman who lived in the 20th century . «I believe that the strong spirituality and hospitality of this country emerges with this collection. Every time I am struck that upon arrival, here, they make you wear a necklace of flowers and give you a blessing to make you feel more welcomed right away. But the most important thing is to recognize the cultural value of India and how, in my opinion it has been a great stimulus for creativity» . A celebration of Dior&#39;s link with India and the powerful women who still continue to create culture with their own hands.
