Matthieu Blazy continues to wow the fashion world, this time experimenting with new textures, shapes, and materials whilst simultaneously remaining focused on craft.

Since becoming the creative director of <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/culture/bottega-veneta-biennale-dance-2023-xie-xin-choreographer" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Bottega Veneta</a>, <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/bottega-veneta-pre-fall-2023-collection-woman-man-photo-look" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Matthieu Blazy's appointment</a> has only proven to be a match made in heaven. His successful run continues for Bottega Veneta's <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/fendi-understated-elegance-for-spring-summer-2024">Spring/Summer 2024</a> show. To start, the scene is set in a warehouse with a tiled catwalk detailed with various animals &mdash; from penguins to fish to birds. But, in Blazy's world, you never truly know what you're in for.
Craftsmanship. That's the hero word of it all. This is proven from the first look, with a model walking in a black short-suit holding a woven bag filled with fabrics and a button-down shirt, as if they had just taken off moments before. The thoughtfulness continues, first with impeccably tailored suiting followed by signs of deconstruction, until the collection arrives at Blazy's experimentation with new textures and manipulated materiality.
Patchworked knits, layered fringe, and re-engineered leather garments, were just a few pieces that revealed Blazy's masterful understanding of shaping the form, even with deconstructed shapes. His penchant for incorporating unassuming yet impactful design details also defined the collection, such as the bottoms with unbuttoned waistbands (only to reveal a layer of buttoned bottoms underneath).
Nodding to his previous collections, workwear returns to the runway, largely in oversized proportions, with a number of long coats, collared shirts, and leather ties taking the stage. A bold and versatile colour palette was featured from creams and greys to vibrant reds and saturated blues.
Quality and craft to the highest degree, the collection was equally bold and refined, presenting a new take on textures and silhouettes.
