There are many reasons why this Balenciaga collection is extra special. Demna has brought the ideas, shapes and details that have been with him for a decade, from a $400 million brand to a $2 billion empire, to close out a resort season with the legendary Britney Spears and her own curated playlist. The "surprise" attack on a pop culture icon like "pop princess" Britney has once again made waves online. The playlist, which includes Britney's biggest hits and songs that inspired her, is now available on Apple Music and Spotify. There are also two new remixes of two iconic Britney songs: "Gimme More" and "Oops... I Did It Again," created by BFRND - Demna's partner and the person behind the music for Balenciaga shows throughout the years. Along with that, there are a series of limited-edition outfits and accessories.
The collection's launch took place at Balenciaga's Paris showroom and Demna also announced that he would curate the Balenciaga by Demna exhibition, which will take place at Kering's headquarters from July 26 to 9.

Titled Exactitudes, the collection is inspired by Ari Versluis and Ellie Uyttenbroek&#39;s social science photography series, reimagined as a fashion exhibition with Demna&#39;s perspective on visual arrangement and presentation. “This collection is the culmination of countless genes I have designed, all of which have been part of my creative vision and research at Balenciaga for 10 years,” Demna shares. “It combines designs from 35 previous collections with new variations, along with pieces from my own personal wardrobe, offering a look at the silhouettes and attitudes that have shaped my thinking about the contemporary wardrobe: what people really wear, how they wear them, and what the thin line between fashion and luxury is.” The Exactitudes series documents different forms of identity, each group is designated as an “exactitude”, a combination of “exact” and “attitude”. Each character is placed against a white background, highlighting each person’s individuality by playing a pre-coded identity. Simply put, this is a cross between identification and resistance, a study of the collective self and the desire to separate, a kind of examination of stereotypes and crowd psychology.

Just like Britney Spears curated a playlist of songs that inspired her, Demna curated a collection of her hits and put them together in a perfectly remixed playlist. There are 48 looks in total, from signature oversized shoulder tops, bold cuts, edgy streetwear, high-top socks, to giant bags, all of which appear in Demna's final collection. If you were a fan of Demna's Balenciaga, this will be your last chance to own these transitional designs.
There is no denying that Demna has made Balenciaga one of the most desirable brands in the contemporary fashion market. It is the snowstorm runway that makes every step of the models more difficult than ever, the muddy black runway, sometimes the stage that brings back the Simpsons characters,... giant snack bags, "ugly" Crocs, trash bags or foot shoes with unbelievable prices,... And this collection has it all, by continuing to uphold its manifesto: still the old, but completely new.
&ldquo;Creating this collection was like coming home after so many years, like a deep experience, full of love for fashion and tailoring,&rdquo; Demna shared. &ldquo;It is the end of a beautiful era and I wanted to record and honour it by creating the Balenciaga &lsquo;archetypes&rsquo;, which are the people, the shapes, the spirit and the ideas that have always been the foundation of my creative journey here.&rdquo; From the sharp hourglass suits, the iconic panta-boots, the exaggerated shapes to the variations on classics like the puffer jacket, we no longer need to decipher the &ldquo;Demna codes&rdquo; anymore, everything appears clearly, because after a decade, Demna himself has engraved them into the subconscious of fashionistas.
The designer understands how to capture the attention of both the luxury industry and outsiders, and more importantly, he has created a formula for building a brand that is uniquely his own. &ldquo;It is also a love letter to the loyal, courageous and pioneering community we have built for Balenciaga, with whom we have bonded through this creative journey.&rdquo; - Demna.
