He's mysterious, brutish, and boyishly handsome. Sam Claflin is one of those actors who you never get tired of watching. He has played a wide variety of roles, from a young missionary in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides to a king in The Huntsman: Winter's War. Love, Rosie is also one of his best-known films, a romantic comedy where he plays alongside the luminous <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/fashion/lily-collins-top-beauty-looks" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Lily Collins</a>.&nbsp;Although Claflin is in the public eye quite a bit, he prefers to keep his personal life private.&nbsp;Below, L'OFFICIEL has compiled six random facts about the actor you probably didn't know.&nbsp;

He initially wanted to be a professional soccer player.

As a young boy, Claflin aspired to be a professional footballer, but after breaking his ankle, he changed his mind. With some persuasion from his parents and teachers, Claflin chose to study acting.&nbsp;

He went to college for acting.

Many actors don't choose to study acting before launching themselves into the film and TV industry, but Claflin found the importance of a degree. In 2003, he began studying Performing Arts at Norwich City College, before attending the London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art.&nbsp;

He's a father.&nbsp;

Claflin was married to actress Laura Haddock before, in 2019, they announced their split. They have&nbsp;two children together who they continue to co-parent.&nbsp;

His breakout role was as Philip Swift in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.

Although we all know Claflin for his various roles, from Alex Stewart in Love, Rosie to William Traynor in&nbsp;Me Before You, the film that really launched his career was&nbsp;Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. Surprisingly enough, Claflin wasn't surrounded by actors growing up. His father worked as a finance officer while his mother was a classroom assistant. He is one of four boys, and his younger brother also chose to pursue acting.&nbsp;

As we know, there isn't a role Claflin can't do, but a majority of his roles have been book-to-film adaptations.
