The coming-to-age queer rom-com has already been renewed for Season 3.

Our hearts just can't get enough of the hit <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/culture/10-tv-series-and-movies-to-watch-in-september-on-netflix-prime-sky-now-and-disney" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Netflix</a> series Heartstopper.
Since the LGBTQ+ rom-com has come into our lives, it has garnered a mass amount of followers, and for good reason. The series is a book adaption that follows two high school boys who find themselves in the friends-to-lovers trope. It's a feel-good queer love story that has captured our hearts for good reason.
Following the recent release of Season 2, fans are already asking the important question: Will there be a Season 3?
Here's everything we know about <a href="https://www.lofficielibiza.com/culture/heartstopper-season-2-netflix-details-trailer-release-date" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Heartstopper</a> Season 3.

Was Heartstopper renewed for Season 3?

Yes! In May 2022, it was announced that Hearstopper was renewed for two additional seasons, meaning a Season 3 will be in the works.&nbsp;
"We put so much love into the making of Heartstopper so to reassemble the team for two more seasons is a dream come true,&rdquo; executive producer Patrick Walters <a href="https://www.netflix.com/tudum/articles/heartstopper-season-2-renewal-confirmed" target="_blank" rel="noopener">said in a statement per Netflix</a>. &ldquo;I&rsquo;m forever grateful to Alice Oseman for entrusting us with this beautiful, unique story that at its core seeks to uplift the next generation of young LGBTQ+ people."
Writing has already begun as Netflix recently shared the title of the first episode, "Love."

We can assume that the main cast will be back for a third season. This includes Kit Connor (Nick), Joe Locke (Charlie), Yasmin Finney (Elle), William Gao (Tao),&nbsp;Corinna Brown (Tara), Kizzy Edgell (Darcy), Tobie Donovan (Isaac), Rhea Norwood (Imogen), Jenny Walser (Tori), Cormac Hyde-Corrin (Harry), and Olivia Colman playing Nick&rsquo;s mom, Sarah.
The return of one main character though is up in the air, which is Sebastian Croft who plays Ben. In Season 2, Ben told Charlie that he would not be returning for the next semester, leaving many fans questioning if his character is leaving for the show for good or if he will still make unexpected appearances.&nbsp;
We can also assume that new characters will join the cast, though it's too early to say who.

Considering that Season 2 was just released, it will be a while until we can expect a release date. Especially with the ongoing WGA and SAG strikes, it's hard to say when production will begin.
That said, Alice Oseman, the author of Heartstopper and television producer, <a href="https://ew.com/tv/heartstopper-season-2-expanding-comic-season-3/?utm_campaign=entertainmentweekly_entertainmentweekly&amp;utm_content=tv&amp;utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=twitter.com&amp;utm_term=64ce596e66d1df0001feae87" target="_blank" rel="noopener">revealed to Entertainment Weekly</a> that the writing for Season 3 is "very much underway" and while the show is "quite a faithful adaptation" to the book series, the show has developed into its own thing &mdash; which means we may see more scenes that deviate from the original books.
