Casa Corbellini-Wasserman is transformed into a canvas for the artists Elmgreen &amp; Dragset and John Armleder who reimagine the historic spaces of the MASSIMODECARLO Gallery with an exhibition itinerary made up of associations.

The bourgeois spaces created by Piero Portaluppi of Casa Corbellini-Wassermann are subverted from their origins, transforming the <a href="https://www.lofficielitalia.com/arte/maurizio-cattelan-impiccato-you-significato-opera-mostra-milano" target="_blank" rel="noopener">MASSIMODECARLO</a> headquarters into <span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">a mysterious domestic atmosphere, sometimes psychedelic. The exhibition entitled Room Service involves a series of works of art created with the most disparate formats, starting from the ready-made for the creation of everyday objects, to hyper-realistic sculpture, paintings, drawings, installations and even design and performance art. On the one hand there is the intimate, performative-sculptural and irreverent language of the Scandinavian artist duo <span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">Michael Elmgreen and <span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">Ingar Dragset ; on the other there is the unlabelable taste <span style="background-color: transparent; font-family: inherit; font-size: inherit; font-style: inherit; font-variant-ligatures: inherit; font-variant-caps: inherit; font-weight: inherit; letter-spacing: 0px;">of the Swiss John Armleder. An exhibition itinerary that invites observers to formulate new and distorted associations with everyday environments, psychedelia with a look at the intimacy and presence of individuals. The exhibition stems from a deep admiration of Elmgreen &amp; Dragset for the work of Armleder, who after meeting for the first time in the early 2000s share the same passion for everyday objects that challenge and subvert the paradigms of contemporary art . &laquo;We shared this idea of working on a space that houses these versatile works that analyze human behavior. We also find some small works that were present in the Prada Foundation for the exhibition 'Useless Body?' but placed in a completely different context they take on new meanings&raquo; explains Michael Elmgreen.

&quot;Room Service&quot; is a subtle dialogue sustained with a crossroads of works that enhance commonalities and associations of individual interpretation. «My art is expressed in many languages and this exhibition was born precisely on this idea with a combination of elements. Being an artist allows you to have a freedom that all human beings don&#39;t have, and it&#39;s a powerful tool of expression that few possess and must be used wisely. Nothing is necessarily right or wrong» John Armleder points out, «At a young age I grew up fascinated by the Fluxus movement, then I was greatly influenced by Soviet Suprematism and John Cage» then he mentions some of the works of John Cage, author of Silence and like 4&#39;33” : «He was very strange and what he did with the music and with the performance was to experiment with the structure and with the creative process. It taught me that it doesn&#39;t matter if it&#39;s all black or all white, you have to do something to change a given situation and get something new. We are of course responsible for this exhibition but the moment it is visited, the observers are also responsible with their individual interpretation.

The impression is that of walking through the spaces on tiptoe, trying not to step on the glass goblets (already broken) of Armleder&#39;s work Charivari , or tripping over The Drawing by Elmgreen &amp; Dragset, the hyper-realistic child bent over a sheet A4 that portray a painting by the Swiss artist installed in the same room. Without a shadow of a doubt, a change of dimension is perceived: from the institutional environment of the Milanese residence, we move to a more intimate and private sphere. In some cases, conflicting or uncomfortable feelings similar to the violation of privacy may even approach, as in the observation of the boy in the flesh of the performance &quot; Here but not here&quot; by Elmgreen &amp; Dragset, completely still like a statue concentrated on reading the book by Susanne Sontag &#39; Against interpretation and other essays&#39;. A reflection on the boundary between art and everyday life that poses doubts, questions or answers with direct involvement.
