An avant-garde gallery whose warehouse-like space outside Santa Gertrudis has become a meeting point for artists, intellectuals, and curators over the last decade has heralded 2022 with the launch of a new gallery in the village itself.

Parra &amp; Romero was first established in Madrid in 2005 by owner and director Guillermo Romero Parra. A second space opened in Ibiza in 2012. The brand-new gallery, in the heart of Santa Gertrudis, will continue to explore Parra &amp; Romero&rsquo;s signature focus on new languages in contemporary art, situated between the limits of conceptual and minimalist art.

On a far more intimate scale than its industrial predecessor, the new gallery has opened with an exposition of contemporary art to celebrate Parra &amp; Romero&rsquo;s ten years in Ibiza.&nbsp; Featured artists include Lara Almarcegui, Frederic Anderson, Robert Barry, Daniel Buren, Luis Camnitzer, Helmut Federle, Joseph Kosuth, David Lamelas, Heinz Mack, David Mag&aacute;n, Ugo Mulas, Claudio Parmiggiani, Florian Pumhosl, Thomas Schebitz and Ian Wallace, among others. This radical group combines pioneering historical artists from movements such as the 1950s Zero Group and Arte Povera along with younger artists whose work is informed by these movements.

Of the opening, Guillermo Romero Parra says, &lsquo;It has been 10 years since we opened the gallery in Ibiza, with the aim of extolling the island&rsquo;s most creative and intellectual side, which has resided here since the 1930s since the arrival of leaders of liberal thought, including Walter Benjamin and Raoul Haussmann among many others. Ibiza is still an epicentre of creativity and freedom, which in a certain way has not changed but has evolved in a society that is where it is increasingly difficult to find places like this.&rsquo;
