Palazzo Strozzi celebrates two decades of female artistic visions with a unique exhibition.

In the majestic setting of Palazzo Strozzi in Florence, spring ushers in a celebration of female creativity. Running through August 31, the exhibition Time for Women! Empowering Visions in 20 Years of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women celebrates two decades of artistic audacity, creative freedom, and visions embodied by nine women whose work has redefined the contours of contemporary art.
Created in 2005 by the <a href="https://www.maxmarafashiongroup.com/?lang=en" target="_blank" rel="noopener">Max Mara Fashion Group</a> , in collaboration with London 's Whitechapel Gallery&mdash;joined in 2007 by the Collezione Maramotti&mdash;the Max Mara Art Prize for Women was the first prize dedicated to emerging female artists based in the United Kingdom. Much more than a trophy, this prize is a promise: that of a space and time entirely dedicated to creation, without compromise or constraints. A six-month residency in Italy, tailor-made for each winner, offers a rare opportunity to escape the hustle and bustle, to explore, to learn, and above all, to dream big.
Florence, a city of art and refinement, thus becomes the ideal setting to retrace the history of this award, which has become a benchmark. At La Strozzina, the works of the nine laureates&mdash; Margaret Salmon, Hannah Rickards, Andrea B&uuml;ttner, Laure Prouvost, Corin Sworn, Emma Hart, Helen Cammock, Emma Talbot, and Dominique White &mdash;converse for the first time under the same roof. Monumental installations, introspective videos, sensitive sculptures, or powerful wall pieces, each work is a fragment of a personal and universal narrative, born from a deep immersion in Italian culture.

From Emma Hart 's revisited commedia dell'arte to Emma Talbot's reimagined mythology, to Helen Cammock's unearthed forgotten stories, each project reveals a unique, intimate, and political perspective. These artists, selected at a pivotal moment in their careers, are now key voices on the international scene. Each, in her own way, explores questions of identity, memory, motherhood, society, and heritage, forging a sensitive link between past and present, between the individual and the collective.
But the exhibition Time for Women! Empowering Visions in 20 Years of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women doesn't just celebrate: it advocates. It loudly asserts the need to support female voices in art, to give them the means to create without hindrance, and to recognize the power of their vision . It is no coincidence that, in 2007, the prize was recognized by the British Council Arts &amp; Business International Award : it is a model of enlightened patronage, combining artistic excellence and societal commitment.
